We have found him.. he's alive, but he is trapped in a house 4 doors down, and the owner is on holiday. We have only found him thanks to our neighbour (who is his other 'mum' as she adores him) who was sure he heard a tiny miaow and went peering through the letterbox.. sure enough he is in there. We think he probably snuck in when she was loading her suitcases to her car.

We have pushed crunchies through the letter box but are very concerned that he may not have had water as we don't know if he has been able to access a loo to drink or not. We have no contact for the owner, but my neighbour thinks she is due back tomorrow night. If she is not back I will break a window !
I am so so relieved.. just desperate to get him out and home. Will he need the vets if he been dehydrated?

I'm so relieved you found him. It must be so hard to leave him there though.

What if they don't come back tonight though?.

gordonpym · 22/06/2015 07:58

Meanwhile, you can try to fill a plastic bag with water.

Put some rope around the handle of a plastic bag, let it pass though the letter box. Once the bag is on the other side but the handles still on yours, fill it as much as you can with water, then lower it gently until it touches the floor sso that it form a bowls and your cat can drink from it.

I'd guess that the least expensive window in the house would need to be at least thinking about meeting its maker then, Fluffy - but the timing would be right for a long weekend with a return today I think.

sashh · 22/06/2015 09:10

Glad you found him.

I agree ice cubes.

What is the legality of breaking a window to get him out (and paying for the repair of course) does anyone know?

I would suggest calling the non-emergency police number rather than just breaking a window. Hope they are home soon though!

chockbic · 22/06/2015 13:17

Glad that you've found him. Big furry cuddles soon.

Brilliant news that you have found him Grin

MedusaIsHavingaBadHairday · 22/06/2015 16:17

He's home.. my lovely neighbour pounced when she saw the house owner's car pull up :) I will find out in a bit whether he left much mess and get my nice neighbour some wine to say thank you. I haven't enquired yet about whether he left much mess !

Obie is fine.. gobbled food, drank loads and now wants to go out to play. I am keeping him shut in for a few hours though. Ophie however.. much to my surprise is NOT pleased. After intially calling for him she obviously decided life was better without, and has hissed at him several times!!! I guess she will get over it in a day or two and he must smell 'wrong' to her as she keeps sniffing at him .

I'm looking forward to getting the loc8tor on him when it arrives!

Threetoedsloth · 22/06/2015 16:18

What a relief. I think Ophie's telling him what she thinks of him!

cozietoesie · 22/06/2015 17:22
Smile

So Ophie liked it on her own and getting (she thought) all the attention? Grin

Glad he's back and fine - and good idea about the bottle for the neighbour.

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/06/2015 17:38

Thank god he's ok. Poor Ophie though. Portia was no doubt delighted to see him back too.

MedusaIsHavingaBadHairday · 22/06/2015 19:24

Portia has been ok actually.. more or less shrugged her shoulders and went 'oh you're back.. whatever..' Ophie is weirdly freaked out and is actually growling and hissing at him when ever she sniffs near him. They are shut in for now and hopefully she'll get over it quickly!

He is following me round the house crying if he can't see me, and is very jumpy (and scared of Ophie!) Novel considering he is usually a bolshy sod... but I imagine they will settle down in a few days!

Bless him this news made my day!! I suspect he won't be going into strange houses again. The loc8tor is fine (I have them) except it doesn't work well through walls and buildings so might not have found him. There is a new cat collar GPS which is real time and about to be launched. I've put is down for 2 of those. A microchip one would be perfect though. Poor boy I'm so pleased he is back Smile

SunnyAgain · 22/06/2015 20:01

Phew! So pleased to read of a happy ending!

cozietoesie · 22/06/2015 21:10

It's cheered me right up. Hearing about his temporary absence made me quite gloomy.

Corygal · 22/06/2015 21:18

Massive well done dearest M and Obie. What an ordeal - have lots of furry cuddles and a nice rest for a couple of days.

fenneltea · 22/06/2015 21:30

I'm so glad he's home, I kept thinking about him being stuck there bless him.

QueenFuri · 22/06/2015 21:30

Glad he is home.

kathryng90 · 22/06/2015 21:37

What was the damage at the neighbour? My cat got stuck in a neighbouring flat which was being renovated. 5 days. When builder returned he found the flyer I put through and heard his bell on his collar under the floor and came and knocked for me. But the mess was awful. Poo all over the mattress and carpet. Fortunately he chose the bath to wee in! I replaced everything and neighbour was lovely about it. Hope yours is the same!

code · 22/06/2015 21:42

Next doors cat hid in our spare room under the bed for 2 days. Not a poo or wee in sight- poor little thing.

Wordsaremything · 22/06/2015 22:07

So very relieved for you both!

timtam23 · 22/06/2015 23:22
