Cats and their "other " names

I'm not taking about nicknames. Always agonise over the right choice

Then. 12 to18 months on i realise....

His real name is William. Hers isSusie. And hers is Dora.

Why? Am I alone?

Has happened every time apart from my very first. Maybe I'm a bad cat namer?

nah, Reuben ...it does suit him and he likes it, but I wish with all my heart we had called him Geoffrey.

Faerie should have been Queenie....although that is her middle name, she is Faerie-Queen so we nearly got it right.

and Montgomery (long long deceased) never ever liked his name, and would only answer to Kitten.

Doing that reverse double purr thing ( like bagpipers do) in recognition.

LoveGeorge and queenie. I have Tom ( William) and Bella (Dora ) my youngest tho it suits her would out me in an instant....

Im happy with all mine but they did end up with nicknames/alternatives. Dory is Dory Bobs or Bobs, Ian is meanie or meanstable, Jeff is Jeffry Bobbles, Chairman Miaow is Chow Mow or Mow, Dave is Dave cat

No, mine are J and K and it suits them. I think becasue they aren't human names.

However they usually respond to Princess and Fatarse- two of many nicknames they have.

RainbowCat has 8 names, all of which would out me!

haha, my mum's cat has had many names before we got the right one a few weeks ago, after over 10 years. It's the fifth name he got from us (not counting the one from the rescue).

Elder cat is Signor, because he'd definitely speak with a sinister and whispery Spanish accent.

Little one, Monsieur. Not sure why really, because he'd have a west coast American accent. It fits him though.

I meant Senor. I suppose he could be a sinister Italian? Mogfather?

I'd be surprised if our newest cat knew her name. Mum bought her home from vets as Hazel. Older brother calls her Tiddles ( as we already have Squiddle and Diddle)
Then she was the Little Cat
Then she was L.C which turned to Elsie.

Now I develop it every time I speak to her, it has gone Elsie, Elsa, Elsabella, Bella, Bellaboo, Boo.

Currently I am not speaking to her as she savaged my new make up sponge while DP filmed it, " not realising what it was"

Ripper is also called Gollum. Because of his big eyes and penchant for raw fish.

Boycat has so many names he answers to anything!

When we found him he was so tiny and cute I thought he was girl so we called him Ellie, took him to the vets a few days later who confirmed he was indeed a boy, changed his name to Dexter, which got shortened to Dex, which confused the dog, Max, so changed it again to Tom.

Three years later..he gets called Tom, Lanky Larry Long Legs and Lanky Legs McGonigle
(disclaimer - his legs are actually just average cat legs )

Pearl is known as Knitted Woollen Mouse. This is because she's grey, like a mouse and her coat is sort of thick and woolly, like wool, hence the knitted bit

I'm afraid that Portia probably thinks her name is 'fuckoffportia' as she is a pain in the backside.. has a persistant claws out slap that she uses on us daily. Other cats miaow for food.. not Portia, oh no..she walks up to you leaps up and slaps!

Obie (Oberon) and Ophie (Ophelia) started off as Dill and Parsley, but DD1 insisted they should have Shakespearian names :) She was of course right!

Morpheus was known by many names. Morph, big boy, and fatbastard

i rarely call my cat by her name, lol. she is most frequently Biteycat or Cowbag.. but i luffs her, and she also gets called Babycat, Fuzzylove and Kitten.
