Little Monsieur, good Samaritan

Our elderly neighbour lost his dog a few weeks ago. He's now all alone. He was chatting to DH, and told him that our Little Monsieur had been coming in to visit him since. He used to go in there when the dog was alive, (he has no fear of anything, and the dog was very docile) but he's been popping in there more.

Makes me happy to think our little curly bloke can bring a bit of comfort to someones life.

Ah, that's really sweet.

I think animals know when someone needs comforting (I did misread your title as Little Monster and wondered what he's done)

He is a little monster as well as a good Samaritan Rooster. Grin

I'll lay odds that the elderly neighbour is also filling his fridge with small taste treats for Little Monsieur ? The family had an outside-going boy some years back and we discovered that he was batting his baby-blues at a series of neighbours in return for little morsels of eg chicken and ham.

Not that I'm accusing LM of being a Six Dinner Sid of course. Grin

Ha! Devons are known for being greedy types. When he was a kitten, every mealtime turned into a battle of wills. Especially when cheese was involved.

The other neighbours had a barbecue the other day. We had to shut him inside. At our last barbecue, we found him sitting on a packet of raw sausages. He'd torn into the packaging and was quietly munching one. Grin

He's a real character isn't he? How lovely that he's bonded to the neighbour, must be a real comfort. You'll have to accept a little M timeshare soon.

You know, it is nice to know that he's keeping NDN company. One time he sneaked out the front (out of bounds) and NDN brought him back. When I thanked him, he said how fond he was of him, and he couldn't bear it if anything happened to the LM.

I may look into enrolling him as a pet therapy cat. He loves meeting and greeting people. And being the centre of attention of course...

I bet he'd love that. We have the dogs visit at work and the change on the ward is amazing, everyone perks up.

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/05/2015 17:02

It would be excellent to have a visiting cat, mostly it's dogs which is ok but a lot of people like cats too.

It is lovely he goes round for a fuss.

chockbic · 31/05/2015 17:04

Must be nice to pet a cat, without fearing for your flesh Shock

It was a bit of a novelty having a non-bitey cat,Chock, I'd become so accustomed to regular maulings from MCat. Then again, this morning Little Monsieur got into bed with me and attacked my (not moving) leg! He'd just had a "sesh" with the catnip though, and he's only just started "using", so I'll put the rambunctiousness down to that. He got turfed out from under the duvet, as per Cozie's No Biting In Bed Rule.

Yup sounds as if he got a bit over excited from his first hits.

No bitey. Bad.

cozietoesie · 02/06/2015 13:41

There's an interesting corollary to the strict enforcement of House Rules - as far as Siamese go anyway but it may extend to all cats. If they're bright cats, it seems that they actually 'extend' the rules in some way so that No Biting In Bed becomes plain No Biting and No Going on Kitchen Surfaces becomes 'No Going on Kitchen and various other Surfaces'.

I haven't worked out what the rationale might be but there's definitely some sort of generalising effect in my experience.

RubbishMantra · 02/06/2015 16:15

Here is having his head washed by MCat, after the Biting In Bed incident. After the wash, MCat slapped him a couple of times.

Faintmakingly sweet philanthropist Little M! MCat furry Miss Manners!

I ordered 4 catnip plants online which arrived yesterday. The instructions joke 'Keep young plants away from the family cat'.

Mr C has been tripping non stop. He grabbed my hand when the feeling first hit and rammed it under his throat, urging me on for a mammoth ears-and-chin session. I was on the phone to a client. Had to dismiss the purry roaring as a bad signal.
