...how much does it cost to have cat PTS?

Girl cat was very, very poorly this morning, and we took her to the vet. Sad

We've buried her at the bottom of the garden, and planted a rose bush on top.

In my panic I didn't take the right card, so couldn't pay. Blush The receptionists couldn't have been lovelier, said it didn't matter (while handing us tissues) and I've promised to go back on Tuesday.

Only I've no idea how much it will cost! It doesn't say on their website. Confused

Aww... poor puss, and poor you too. Flowers

Sadly this happened recently with one of our cats and it cost around £40. Glad to hear the vet team were lovely about it all.

missnevermind · 23/05/2015 19:15

My friend paid £80 a few months ago. But that was with the vet dealing with the remains. She wasn't able to take him home to bury.

LynetteScavo · 23/05/2015 19:40

I'll put £50 aside then.

The vet wrapped her in a blanket, and put her in a cardboard coffin to bring home...I didn't see the blanket, so not sure if it was an expensive one - I'm going on what DH and DC are telling me.

And yes the vet team were totally lovely. The vet himself was one of the nicest, most considerate people I've ever met. Smile

Iirc we paid about £100 but I think that was for the cremation Confused. I know I paid £100 for the guinea pig to be put to sleep and £7 for his friend three months later.

ProfYaffle · 23/05/2015 19:46

We paid £80 about 18 months ago and that was with the vet arranging cremation (but ashes not returned to us)

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/05/2015 20:41

I am sorry, that must've been awful for you.

LynetteScavo · 23/05/2015 22:44

Thank you, Fluffycloudland77, it was awful, but now I feel relieved. Most people would probably have taken the poor old thing to be PTS long ago; she was blind and deaf, but while she was happy and pain free, I couldn't.

Oh, you poor thing.

One of our mogs seems on his last legs quite frequently and I'd asked the vet about this. I'm in the South East and the cost of PTS where the owner takes the body home is £42, so your idea of putting aside £50 sounds about right to me.

Cantbelievethisishappening · 24/05/2015 15:37

So sorry to hear about your little cat Flowers

I paid 85 pounds quite recently

LynetteScavo · 28/05/2015 18:01

Just to update, so other people know if looking through threads...it was £65.

Which seems higher than average, but the care we were given was second to none.

We paid about £100 for ours, but she was cremated.

Sorry for the loss of your girl Flowers
