...seem to psychically know who needs to get up sooner and always, always sit on that person's lap?!

Oh yes, then he moans when I get up and sneaks up to the bathroom door where he sits so he can moan some more when I come out and slam the door into him.

Fun times.

It happens so often it can't possibly be a coincidence. He seems to know who is about to get up to go out / carry on cooking / go to the loo. I wonder if we are giving off physical signals of this somehow that he can instinctively read? His hit rate is too good for it to be a coincidence!

Ps ah yes, the old blaming you for the door thing...

My aunt suffered from a phobia about fur so couldn't bear any of our cats touching her. Guess who ThirdCat (not a creature given to laps in any case) always made a beeline straight for as soon as the sitting-room door was opened?

As you said, too good a hit rate for it to be a coincidence.

Both of mine do it to DH. Always when he's about to make dinner. I feel guilt when he has to move them, but not enough for me to offer that he stays put and I make dinner. Grin

Funny story, not relevant but funny.

ASBO cat was injured, ooh vet visit the previous night and painkillers etc and he was heavily limping on his back legs. Hospital had been mentioned and decided against.

He came dashing out of the bedroom the next morning at full pelt, saw Dh coming out of the dressing room and looked up at him like "oh shit I'm meant to be ill" and limped down the stairs very, very slowly.

Cat slept in the utility room that night.

I note he didn't try it with you? Smile

RubbishMantra · 29/04/2015 11:34

You have a dressing room?! Envy

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/04/2015 11:39

Think box room with wardrobes & a chest. It's not stately home proportions.

I was downstairs, out of the way. He thought the coast was clear for a mad dash.

cozietoesie · 29/04/2015 11:52

Ah. I had wondered whether he had DH pegged as a soft touch. Grin

I have a story like Fluffy's.

My last cat was a rescue, was fairly thin when we got her and seemed to have a problem judging distances (couldn't jump the gap in the garden wall at the top of the steps and first). She also appeared to lack a wee bit of sense when it came to climbing things.

Not long after we she arrived she decided to climb the cherry tree in front of the house, but then instead of climbing down the sensible, easy was insisted on reversing her route up, which ended in a fall and a sprained ankle. Poor lass was limping for weeks.

Except, it got to the point where she'd be trotting along the road, quite happy like, until she saw you, when all of a sudden she'd be back to hobbling and looking pathetic. She gave up eventually when she realised the pot of sympathy was empty, but for a wee while after we sussed she kept this act up. 'Twas funny.
