Just that, really. N went out on Monday morning, with her sister R and our much older cat, C, as per usual (well, as per usual for the last week, we only started letting N and R out last week) and she hasn't come back. Not once, not sight nor sound of her. DH and the kids have knocked on all the neighbours doors, we've put up posters, out the poster in the two Facebook lost pets pages for our city, posted the poster on Twitter, emailed all the members of the local residents association...nothing. Nada. R is going spare, she has never been away from her sister for more than 10 mins till now, they both panic if they can't see each other. C also appears to be sad, he keeps looking for N where she normally sits. DD2, whose cat N officially is (R belongs to Dd1, C belongs to DS) is utterly distraught. N is chipped but she wasn't wearing a collar - many years ago my best friend's cat got caught by her collar and died (essentially, she hung herself) so I've been afraid of collars ever since. she's spayed so that should be an indication to anyone who 'found' her that she is owned - yet nobody has returned her and we haven't been contacted. Until Monday she had never left sight of the house - she would go in the patio, venture slightly into the back garden then come charging back to confer with R (repeatedly, like a game). This will be her third night outside. I am sick with worry, about N and about Dd2 and DS who seems just as upset. Our road backs onto (urban) countryside - quite a large wooded area, I'm not sure if it there's a bombs crater there or if the ground is naturally like that, anyway it's a protected area now, despite being in a city) - and there are foxes (and sometimes, cows!). Basically - it's really not safe for her to be out all night. DH has been roaming the area too, we've left food out etc (though not over night, not only are there foxes but, thanks to the bin policy where we live and the service road out the back, there are definitely rats - hence practically every house has at least 1 cat most have more than one). We know there are at least two houses with potentially dangerous (to small cats) dogs too, not that far away (other side of the service road). :(

A neighbour who had seen our posters and posts on Facebook spotted her and called us. She (our girl) is very thin, very hungry, clearky a bit traumatized and evidently very very happy to be home. We are all over the moon. DH and DD2 took her to the vet to get her checked over (and to confirm it was her in case anyone disputed ownership - it is her (which we knew)) and she is basically fine just underweight, dehydrated and with really hurt claws. So we think she was trapped somewhere and scrabbling to get out. But she managed it and now she is home. It's wonderful, it really is. :)

Thank goodness for all your efforts with publicity. How lovely of the neighbour to recognise her and call you. Poor little thing I bet she is so glad to be home! Don't you just wish they could talk?

hiddenhome · 06/05/2015 22:46

That's great that she's okay. Just spoil her rotten now Grin

DidoTheDodo · 07/05/2015 09:56

HURRAY!
I am so pleased to hear this.

GentlyBenevolent · 07/05/2015 10:11

We won't be letting the kittens out for a while (I don't think NOOKA wants to go out ever again, actually). But when we do, if we do, it won't be until we have cat proofed the garden. We've also bought those loc8ter things for both the girls. The older cat doesn't need one, and he won't wear a collar anyway.

Great news!

hiddenhome · 07/05/2015 11:52

Yes, the Locat8 things look useful.

We've just cat proofed the garden and the relief and piece of mind is fantastic. I can totally recommend it.

My grey and white fluffy young cat has gone missing. She has just had her back legs shaven as she is always going into the bushes and getting them sticky balls all over her. Plus she had a pink harness with a disc with her name and my phone number on. I personally think someone has got her. I wish people wouldn't feed other people's pets especially if they have a collar on. . I know they think they are being kind hearted but buy your own. As they belong to someone else who is extremely woTried . Please help find herx

This is a really old thread cryingshame1962, you might be better starting a new one. I hope she has come home?
