Frenzy cheating

Now it's nicer weather and my swampy lawn has finally dried out a bit we can have cat games outside again; but this sneaky Rolo thinks he can save some energy by pouncing on the string of the flying frenzy wand then lying on it so I can't get it back! I keep telling him that's cheating and real birds don't come with strings...

Sadly, real birds will, however, be coming along shortly. Baby ones. Sad

Yes, that won't be so fun... I don't know whether the frenzy is good as it burns off some hunting desire less bloodily or if I'm actually just training them to be more efficient killers!

Last Autumn there were only two known avian casualties and I suspect both were Monty - he's got a bit more patience and stealth. Rolo loves bird watching and chirping at them with murderous intent even when they're up on the roof, but thankfully he thinks that just full-pelt running across the lawn is a valid hunting technique. Leave the babies alone please boys!

Haha! I know what you mean! Little Monsieur does the string trapping! Then wraps it around himself to prevent escape. MCat grabs it out the air, then just holds onto it. In a determined fashion, whilst looking smug.

And like you, I worry that I am turning them into more efficient killers. However, MCat (eldest) doesn't put mice in our shoes anymore. So far, Little Monsieur has only presented us with a still-warm dead mouse, and a screaming and very much alive frog.

Evil Cat was a much-feared hunter

Nothing was safe, from Sparrows to Wood Pigeons.

I've rescued several of the poor things from her evil clutches over the years.

Then we got another cat, the feline equivalent of Harry Enfield's 'Tim nice-but-dim" character.

He is a super stealth ninja killing machine. In his head.

In reality he is a clumsy, elephant-like, chirping fool. The birds laugh at him I swear.

I've never seen a more pissed-off cat than the day he 'helped' Evil Cat stalk an unsuspecting pigeon. She was a dead cert to get it and the only reason I didn't intervene was due to the Ginger Ninja bearing down on her, ready to aide her attack, chirping as he went.

Evil Cat was not impressed.
