that's it really. brilliant fun to watch but alot of mess to have to keep clearing up plus obviously, not very hygenic although i do scoop out wee/poo pretty much straight away. she has an invisable friend that she goes crazy chasing plus she likes to 'fight' the newspaper that the litter tray sits on. ta

Have you thought of a covered tray, jeans? My own cats have always wanted the standard trays but I know that many people use covered with some success and it might just focus her attention on her duty. (Although if you think it a worthwhile try, I would do it as an 'additional' at first and not as a direct substitution - just in case.)

Oh - and distract her with a game elsewhere if you're around and see her messing with the litter.

Thanks Goodness kittens grow up!

oh i do hope so cozie. i have never had a kitten before. I am not complaining, i don't even mind clearing up the mess with her litter all over the floor repeatedly, it is just alot of work and tiring (i work very early hours ie 4am this morning). hard to imagine this phase passing, she is so 'kitten' like & lovable Grin. on a different note, i just found a live flee (pretty sure that is what it was) under my pillow (where she sleeps)....we gave her advocate a couple of days ago. no idea how quickly it will work ie killing buggers that may be hanging around the house. vet thought treating her would deal with the situation, oh i do hope he is right. we had a flee infestation when i was 8 months pg when we lived in a flat because i used to let local cat come up for cuddles (no, i didn't feed him!!). i was the only one who got bitten. the itch made mosquito bites seem like a walk in the park. in the end i couldn't get rid of them so had to call in pest control

I second the covered tray.

Little Monsieur can fling it about to his heart's content, man, that cat can dig. He'll even stand up on his hind legs and dementedly dig at any flat and shiny surface. Just for fun. He's a little peculiar... Oh, and he's decided the carbon filter in the lid of the litter tray Must Be Destroyed/Eaten.

If you try a covered one remove the flappy door, then re-instate it when she's confident using the new tray.

Hah! My grandmother would have taken one look at those photos and said 'Butter wouldn't melt in her mouth!' Grin

What is her character starting to develop into?

jeanswithatwist · 14/04/2015 19:40

mixed bag. she can be very affectioniate and soppy ie i wake up sometimes with her stroking my face with her paw (no claws), warms my heart or.....going crazy chasing her tail/bombing it around the house at speed playing. so far, couldn't wish for a nicer cat, we all love her to bits which is a little scary for if something were to happen to her we would be seriously heart broken but you can't think like that, i know Smile

That expression says, "I know I'm adorable!"

I felt the same as you Jeans. Little Monsieur looked so tiny when we brought him home. I was worried adult cat may bite through his (very scrawny) neck.

i have been enquiring online about the cost of having the garden 'cat protected', bloomin' expensive so i have instructed dh to fashion something Grin, this should be interesting.......bit of netting and wooden/metal brackets in the right places should work (hopefully, couldn't bear the thought of someone nicking her)
