3 or 4 weeks usually. Frontline's a bit crap, often doesn't work, due to the ol' fleas becoming immune to it.

Which one are you giving the cat?

Is this your 'stray', AF?

You probably need one of the vets who post but I think (although it's not one I've used) that it kills fleas within 24 hours but that reinfestation can occur for up to 6 weeks if there are fleas around in the environment so you'd likely need further doses at monthly intervals, say. As well as some spraying in the house and treating any other pets.

(The reason I wondered whether it was your 'stray' is that you likely won't, in that case, have real control over where he's going.)

Hopefully someone who uses Advantage will comment.

RM, have used Advantage

ct, am hoping 24 hours as would like to have my patio doors open while I am off work this week and the weather is nice (will do the follow up doses). And yes, it's my "stray" Smile

I use Indorex spray on carpets/soft furnishings/cracks in the floor etc. That, combined with hoovering like a Stepford wife, seemed to keep on top of things when I had outside going cats. (They were also treated individually.)

As an interesting side-benefit, it seemed to help also with an endemic moth problem I had. The moths appeared to like to lay eggs in the floor cracks (old wooden floors) so a hoover following a knife blade scour might well have put paid to those also.

AnyFucker · 07/04/2015 21:17

have done the Indorex and manic hoovering (we were infested after the cat came to visit regularly last summer)

it took about 8 weeks to get rid....so do not want it to happen again

will keep it up

Sorry, completely mis-read your OP AF for some reason. pmt

Advantage works within a couple of days. What I should've said was it needs re-applying every 3 to 4 weeks.

And big yes to the Indorex and vigorous vacuuming. Flea collar inside the vacuum. Empty bag/canister thingy after.

And bless you for letting a stray come to hang out at your house!

Do you think you may adopt him?

AnyFucker · 08/04/2015 01:30

Yes, although it may be a few days until he ventures back

getting the Advantage on him was an interesting task....

Not looking forward to subsequent applications (looks at scratted arms ruefully)
