New boy arrivestomorrow

Our lovely, new, black and white, six-year-old, male, rescue cat arrives tomorrow.

We'll keep him in three or four downstairs (small) rooms to start with, no going out for two weeks or so. No going upstairs until we know he won't pee on the bed!

We'll keep him on the current food, wet once a day and dry once a day.

We'll arrange pet insurance, lifetime.

We have got cat food and water bowls, two litter trays, cat flap, cat bed, new brush and a tunnel, getting a few new cat toys tomorrow.

Gouie Louie has been in a cattery for almost a year, is timid but also very affectionate too! He is lovely and we can't wait to love him. But have we forgotten anything, please?

Thank you. Grin

How lovely. We recommend keeping new cats in for three weeks minimum. If they are a bit timid then four weeks is better.

It sounds as though you've covered everything. Just be very careful with doors/windows (cats can squeeze through window openings that look impossible), and of course remember never to allow a lily to cross the threshold.

Cardboard box? Smile

Oh - and camera battery charging for his first pictures on the Litter Tray!

(You sound like a kid waiting for Xmas day to arrive. Grin)

Italiangreyhound · 06/04/2015 23:17

Thanks catneuterer and Cozie I am so excited and so are the kids. Our last dear cat died (car accident) and new one will not replace him but he just needed me. He was not happy in the cattery and I think he just wanted us.

Is he to be called Louie when at home? Smile

Italiangreyhound · 07/04/2015 00:35

Just a mad up name! Not sure what we could call him.

What do you think about changing cat names. The cats all have funny names! Flick and Flack, Tipsy and Topsy etc.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 07/04/2015 07:51

I rather like Louie actually. Smile

The family always call the Siamese boys by the same name - albeit with add-ons so it's a bit like Jones the Post, Jones the Milkman, Skinny Jones etc etc so names are not my strong suit.

Whatever suits him, I guess - and is capable of being called out in the back garden/used at the vet without undue embarrassment.

When does he arrive?

Italiangreyhound · 07/04/2015 14:14

He is here! He is lovely. Wink

Yay!

I think Gouie Louie is an awesome name.

Little Monsieur was almost named Moses. I love saying it in a thick northern accent.

Italiangreyhound · 08/04/2015 01:25

He keeps meowing and following me around! More like a dog than a cat!

Italiangreyhound · 11/04/2015 12:01

Rainbow I will get some photos today. Thanks for asking. He is camera shy!

Skinny Jones Grin

Sounds like a sort of rock star name. He'd wear black skinny jeans and Converse. Greased back hair.

cozietoesie · 11/04/2015 15:46

Well if you buy a pedigree, they always have such completely impossible formal names! You can't go to the back door of a teatime and call 'Time for food Dancing MoonBeam of Azerbaijan at Alton' or whatever - it would take you half an hour to get them in. Much easier to be able to go and yell 'Oi Jones - Nosh!

Smile
RubbishMantra · 11/04/2015 17:35

My little lad's ped name was Corrigan .

I was a bit disappointed. I expected something a bit more... Dancing Moonbeam-ish.

He now has the name of an actual rock star. Grin It suits him with his crazy white afro. And bald neck.

cozietoesie · 11/04/2015 18:23

Maybe his breeder is striking a blow for change? (It could be time for that.)

Italiangreyhound · 12/04/2015 22:31

Could not get the photos to load properly to my record so here they are. Not very good ones! Apologies.

What a handsome chap - he positively gleams!

Smile

How's he doing?

Marmaladedandelions · 12/04/2015 23:06

Aw, I love him!

Ratfinkandbobo · 12/04/2015 23:11

What a handsome cat! All the best to you on your new arrival. Enjoy!

Italiangreyhound · 13/04/2015 18:54

He seems settled but seems very hungry! Not eating the dry food, so fussy not hungry!

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 13/04/2015 19:21

Quite a few cats don't much like dried - one of those things, I'm afraid. He does look more or less settled in those pictures although I can see what you meant about the camera shy - you can tell he knew you were taking a picture or two.

Smile
Italiangreyhound · 13/04/2015 21:17

So do I just persist with the dry. I gave him some plain cooked chicken yesterday and today. He loved it. As a treat!

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 13/04/2015 21:27

Well I'd guess you have an open packet to use up? Maybe try him with a dry food treat ball if you can get your hands on one of those.

Italiangreyhound · 13/04/2015 22:14

Cozie it's not just using up food, I've bought more because everyone said it was good for him and his teeth!
