What comes in foil that a cat might like?!

I have a new foster cat who runs up to me and starts drooling like a maniac whenever he hears tin foil rustling. We've been breaking into the Easter eggs early. He's not interested in the chocolate - I know it's no good for cats, I just held some out to him to gauge his reaction - so it's the foil, but when I give him some foil (to play with?) he just looks at me blankly.

So I'm wondering what is causing this reaction. Is there any kind of meat that comes in tinfoil? All I can think is that his previous owners wrapped leftovers in foil. Just posting here in case anyone knows! Confused

Have you tried scrunching the foil up into a ball? The amount you get on a kit kat is the perfect size - ball should end up somewhere between a cm and an inch in diameter. Flick it around, I've never met a cat who doesn't love to play with this. Perhaps that's what he's waiting for?

Pets at home do as crunchy toy that is basically a big ball of foil. I can look for a link if you want.

Your cat is weird. Most cats are scared of foil!

Bit odd. Maybe opened cheese was kept in foil? Dh does that.

Roast joints of meat. Many many people roast their meat in foil. (Think freshly roasted chicken or lamb etc. The thought of those would get most cats salivating.)

One of our old family cats used to swipe the used foil from the grill pan (after grilling fishfingers or whatever) if it was left unattended.

Thank you! He's chasing a foil ball around the carpet as we speak. I'm dim sometimes!

Of course, meat!. Obviously his previous owners didn't use a slow cooker.

Mind you, the drooling makes me think he's probably a big fan of roasts too! I might do roast beef next week as a treat Smile

Mine's the same when you scrunch up old receipts or any bits of paper, and I've had him since he was a kitten - it must just be the high pitched (mouse-like) sounds maybe. He loves batting them round the room!
