Collecting new kittens tomorrow - what have we forgotten?!

It's been a very long time (about 17 years) since we last had kittens, and we've completely forgotten what it's like. It's a bit like suddenly have a new baby again!

They are 8 weeks old.

We have a litter tray, litter, a new bed for them (which we fully accept they will probably ignore in favour of the sofa/the floor/a bed/somewhere else they prefer!), feeding and water bowls, wet and dry food and a small selection of toys. We've also remembered to lock the cat flap. And we have a carrying basket to collect them/bring them home.

We'll take them to the vet for their vaccinations as soon as we can, and they will be going to be spayed/neutered when they are the right age.

Anything else we should be doing/thinking of?

Sounds good to me, what time do uou collect them?.

Queenofknickers · 27/03/2015 21:48

Not necessary but fun to watch is a cardboard box with kitten-sized holes cut out randomly. They can hide in it if spooked and play in it as well.

Camera to take lots of pictures then show us? What you naming them? You sound very organised though.

Oh yes! Cats and boxes is a match made in heaven.

We collect them in the morning - can't wait! And I think there will be millions of pictures Grin

Flea stuff ASAP, our kitten came with fleas, we had been told he had been treated so didn't even think about it, discovered it a few weeks later, total feckin nightmare.

BIWI · 27/03/2015 22:22

Ah. Yes. Hadn't thought of that. They seem very well cared for, but there are older cats and a dog in the household, so it's a good idea. But what flea treatment can be used with little kittens?

They love a Flying Frenzy

They'll need their flea treatment at the vets' at that young age.

They'll give them a spray when you take them in for registration.

hi BI we are also hopefully getting our cat (5 months) later this week. How about a scratch post (or similar) & catnip blowing bubbles (most important...) from Pets At Home !! Grin

BIWI · 28/03/2015 17:52

Catnip blowing bubbles?! Will have to check that out!

Well we have them. So far, they have slept most of the afternoon, totally ignoring the lovely snuggly bed-thing we bought them. They're asleep on the dining chairs, under the table and covered by the tablecloth. They've eaten, both used the litter tray, had a little play - which mostly involved running behind/under the kitchen units and behind the piano - and are asleep again!

Photo or it didn't happen.

Two photos - the first is in the basket; they were very nervous and wouldn't come out for ages!

And then when they did, they very quickly found the dining rooms chairs. They're back there asleep again now!
