Where to put the kitty overnight?

Pearl is turning into the most dreadful delinquent Shock

She is a total loon and has pretty much taken over the house. Fat Cat usually sleeps with me, but had been ousted from the bed by Pearl. I just can't let this happen because Fat Cat and I are very close and she is becoming depressed due to being alone in the lounge all night.

We can't close our bedroom door, so can't shut FC in with us. Pearl was going into Ds1's room overnight, but kept him up doing stuff and he has his GCSE's coming up, so needs his sleep.

She messes on with ds2's toys, so can't spend the night with him.

The only option is the kitchen, with a litter tray left in the hallway for the other two cats.

Would it be awful to confine her to the kitchen overnight? She has a cosy bed.

I have never known a cat like this one. She takes showers with me and is more like a dog than a cat Confused

Throw her out and get a new one Wink

We have 2 and ever sine we got them they've been closed in the kitchen on a night, they now know bedtime and also know I'm up at 7:30 and that's breakfast time. If we didn't do this they think playtime is 3am, yet in the kitchen with their toys etc they are usually laid in their beds and don't wake up until I come downstairs :-)

cozietoesie · 06/03/2015 15:40

How old is she now, Hidden?

Dreamiesrcatopium · 06/03/2015 15:58

Hi. Newbie here! I am sad and joined just for the cat bit. Ha.

My (very spoilt) girl is also a nigjt waker. Unfortunately our house is all open plan and she can open bedroom door... Although I must admit I do quite like having her in bed with us, till she wakes at 3am

What I do is have a pack of dreamies or the little whiskas ones in the bedside drawer. She wakes cries, gets a few treats and a firm "sleep" and she shuts up til morning.
Would that work for you or am I just too soft? Just realied thatsounds like I have a baby not a cat! Ha.

She's 7 months old now. She's been done and is in good health. I know she'll settle down, but feel so sorry for FC. Ds2 promised he'd have her in his room each night, but is complaining about her stealing his plushy toys and knocking stuff over.

Ds1 has offered to have her overnight in his room at teatime. No school tomorrow, so I'll see how it goes.

She's an utter nutter. Never known a cat like it. She's very bright and never misses an opportunity to cause trouble Grin

Dreamies my fat cat is actually my daughter. I love her so much and would dress her in little clothes and jewels if I could Grin I miss her so much. Pearl kicks her out of our bed and snuggles up with me. FC won't come near then.

Actually, FC has lost a bit of weight because she's getting some exercise running around with crazy Pearl. I guess it's not all bad Grin

How many kitties do you have Dreamies?

Oh I'd lock her in the kitchen, it won't kill her.

Ours is locked in the utility room every night.

Mostlyjustaluker · 06/03/2015 18:30

Maybe extreme but shut the children door and get a microchip registered cat flap for your bedroom door.

hiddenhome · 06/03/2015 18:32

Do they stop miaowimg at the door? I put her in the downstairs loo whilst I cleaned the floor once and she miaowed like crazy.

hiddenhome · 06/03/2015 18:33

We can't shut our bedroom door fully because we have a loft bed and it's slightly over the doorframe.

Fuzzycat isn't allowed upstairs at night time, but she never has been so we don't have an issue with confining her to the lounge/kitchen. She Meow's at the door when I put the kids to bed if she doesn't come up with me as she follows me everywhere, but never when both dh and I go to bed later on.

cozietoesie · 06/03/2015 18:47

I decided to strike a blow for freedom when Twoago arrived - lined a cardoard box with soft things and put it in the bedroom.

He thought it was an excellent game Grin until he finally decided he'd had enough (of being popped in and jumping back out again) and dived into the bed ready for sleep. That was at 14 weeks old and he never slept anywhere else.

hiddenhome · 06/03/2015 18:51

Oh, they love getting into beds don't they? Grin

cozietoesie · 06/03/2015 18:56

Siamese, certainly - all the ones I've ever had have slept in bed right through the night. I'm terrible for my sleep so that suits me just fine.

cozietoesie · 06/03/2015 19:03

Sorry. I have to except Firstcat from that - but he had no litter tray and had to use outside so would get up and ask to go out if he was caught short in the early hours.

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/03/2015 19:43

I wear ear plugs, I don't know if he miaows or not.

pilates · 07/03/2015 08:15

Our 6 month old sleeps in kitchen/conservatory of a night.

RubbishMantra · 07/03/2015 11:59

Sorry, not much help, but I love that photo of her sitting on the door! How the hell did she get up there?!

hiddenhome · 07/03/2015 12:45

She climbs onto the kitchen bench, then the fridge freezer, then into the door. She's like a monkey Shock

She coped okay being in ds1's room and FC came up for a nice cuddle this morning as she didn't realise that Pearl was off the scene through last night.

This is FC in bed as happy as can be Smile

Ah, I love black and whites.

My B&W got a bit freaked out by MKitten at first, for quite a few months. MKitten persisted annoying him trying to make friends. Now they're brothers in arms, thick as thieves. If he doesn't know where MKitten is, he wanders about yowling for him.

NeedABumChange · 08/03/2015 00:25

Can't it just go out?

RubbishMantra · 08/03/2015 03:42

What, BumChange, put a kitten out overnight? Shock

I thought people stopped chucking their cats out for the night in the 1950s?

However, you have reminded me of the beginning of The Flintsones, where he chucks the cat out for the night. Yabadabadoo.
