Kitten teething?

I may have mentioned that I have two 9 week old kittens Grin

It's been a while since I've experienced kittens this young (they're so CUTE!!! And DINKY!!) so I may be on here quite a bit in the coming weeks!

One of them seems to be a bit annoyed by her mouth - every so often she'll act like she's chewing something invisible, it's happened a few times so definitely bugging her somehow. Could it be teething?

She's let me have a look in her mouth and I can't see anything obvious - she's eating fine, and playing like a little mad thing. Shall I just keep an eye out or might she need the vet? They'll be going in for their first kitten checks/jabs etc soon anyway

I wouldn't be overly worried, it sounds like normal kitten behaviour to me, as long as they're eating normally, it could well just teething irritation. Mention it when they go for their first jabs.
They do teeth in a similar way to adults though bizarrely, a few months down the line you might find the odd tooth round the house as their milk teeth fall out and the adult ones grow in.

MKitten went through an uncomfortable teething. He was a bit older than yours' though, about 5 months. So I expect his adult teeth. He'd stand on his back legs, stick his tongue out as far as he could then paw at at his mouth with both hands.

When the vet had a look, she showed me one of his molars coming through, and the surrounding gum was a bit red and sore looking.

As she's so young, probably baby teeth?

Just realised when I wrote 'adults' I actually meant humans. Lol.

Grin It made perfect sense when I read it too Cucking!

Both kittens have been going mad today so she hasn't stayed still long enough to let it bother her! I'll just keep an eye for now and try to stop being an over-protective kitten mum.

Enjoy the madness to last till they're well over a year old! I am sure they are fine. It's hard not to be overprotective when they're only 9 weeks old and so tiny. I used to worry myself sick when ours was a kitten and I left her at home while at work! The house was more kitten proofed than baby proofed!

I was perhaps a tad overprotective too.

When MKitten came to live with us in june, I got a friend to babysit when I was out. I was worried MCat would bite through his scrawny little chicken neck. He reminded me of a baby bird. (He went through a bald stage.)

MCat's a bit of a beast though.
