Mr Cory in his Blue Period

Here is the little lad sitting with me where you can see a bit of the blue throat and chest.

He is not eating much, but boy is he purring. When I checked on him at 4am last night, he flipped over on his back and splayed his back legs, wanting a belly rub - a fine sign.

His mew is hoarse and broken, but I gather he sends voluble thanks to the Ladies of the Litter Tray.

What a beau! So not the terribly traumatised cat that you feared returning?

Corygal · 27/02/2015 23:12

Hem hem cozie, I am slightly embarrassed to admit he is in fine spirits. Pretty wobbly and shaken as one might expect but dead keen to resume the normal routine (me slave, him peckish) and heart-meltingly pleased to be home.

Last night we were both so tired and drained that we kipped for 14 hours straight. I did have some justification for worrying he would freak out, what with his history and everything, but I am so glad I was wrong. And so so glad you were there to be sensible.

cozietoesie · 27/02/2015 23:21

Not that sensible, I fear, but I have seen how Seniorboy (for one) turned around from a vet-phobic to just a bit of a grumbler when he first goes in his cage. (And I'm not sure his heart is truly in it even then. Smile)

It's the knowing they'll be coming home to normality that raises their spirits - that and having confidence in you. When I lift his carrier on to the vet table at the end of the consultation he'll walk in by himself these days - just delighted to be going back home.

I reckon Mr Cory has confidence in you these days - it certainly sounds like it.

Corygal · 27/02/2015 23:27

I think he does - I have bust a gut to show him how much I love him. And he is really spoilt, he knows he is no 1.

In June, he will have been with me for longer in his life than he spent on the streets. Over half his life cuddled and happy!

I'm glad to hear he's recovering nicely.

Cats really are the best thing ever, aren't they?

cozietoesie · 28/02/2015 17:04

How's he doing?

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/02/2015 20:42

I'm so pleased for you both. He must be so pleased to be home.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 28/02/2015 21:10

I'm so glad he's home and you're both ok

Corygal · 28/02/2015 21:51

Thanks everyone! Taking his cue from the renowned wisdom of the Litter Tray, Mr C is channelling SeniorBoy's elder-statesmanlike cool and is now thoroughly relaxed. He is, however, frenziedly keen on Gourmet and woke me up at 6am with his breakfast order. I later served him Dreamies in bed. We lay in until 1230, most pleasant.

He really is much better today, still very cuddly and clingy. The neon blue is fading somewhat and the scar (huge, 3 inches long) is fine. He keeps asking me to scratch his shaved bits, which I am doing very gently, to thunderous purrs.

He even got up strength to discipline a pigeon on the balcony with a cracked yowl.

Bless you both.

I like the image of him disciplining a pigeon. Perhaps next time he might want to use a very small riding crop?

Corygal · 01/03/2015 13:13

Mr C would love a whip, Rubbish. Your loveliness is most appreciated.

How is Mr Cory now?

cozietoesie · 08/03/2015 14:22

I was wondering how the lad was doing. Any news?

Corygal · 08/03/2015 21:37

Mr C getting stronger day by day! We are both so touched and pleased that you thought of us. The good signs are that his scar has stayed intact (despite him trying to scratch it and me watching him like a hawk to distract him) and his fur, while still blue, has mellowed in shade from Cat Smurf to Notting Hill Sky - it's a rather upmarket pale blue.

He is eating like a little blue hog - I was much cheered this afternoon when he snatched salt beef out of my lunch while I was eating it. Am covered in puncture wounds where he tries to get me up at dawn for a fresh meal.

But the most heart-soaring, soul-melting thing is how pleased he is to be home. He purrs and purrs and asks for cuddles non stop, flipping onto his back, legs splayed, so I can scratch his shaved chest and fluffy tummy simultaneously. I have to go to bed early to get in an hour of this nightly before I am allowed to turn the light off.

He is off to the V.E.T. tomorrow for a check up but I am pretty convinced he is fine.

Great news. (Although a shame about your poor punctured body.) Coming home again after the vet should cement things further with any luck.

Let us know how he gets on there?

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/03/2015 21:48

I'm so pleased Corygal. He's so lucky to have you.

Corygal · 08/03/2015 22:04

I will do - oooh, I must tell you the most amazing thing. A month ago I noticed a mole on my back had gone vast & dodgy (my brother described it charmingly as 'like a ham and mushroom pizza') and sure enough the doc sent me off urgently to get it removed at the local cancer clinic. Due to a monumental transport screwup in London, I missed the appt.

Mr C, lying on my bare back that evening as he sometimes likes to do, pawed at the mole and then, to screams of pain from me, hung onto the thrashing human body to busily dig it out. With his claws.

Anyway, when I went back to doc on Friday to get a new appt, she was amazed to see the mole had all vanished and had just neatly scarred. 'Nothing to worry about there at all'.

Shock
Corygal · 08/03/2015 22:14

So cozie, I am being a bit tolerant of the puncture wound situation at the moment. At the moment.

cozietoesie · 08/03/2015 22:17

Oh my.

RubbishMantra · 08/03/2015 22:55

Helpful little healing chap. I'm sure they're Feline Guardian Angels.

Glad you no longer have ham and mushroom pizza mole on your back.

I've got the MKitten lying on his back, waving arms and feet in the air. Making whuffing snuffly snorey noises cuddled up next to me under the duvet. Adorable.

I woke up to MCat nibbling on my thumb this morning. Not the most restful way of waking.

Corygal · 08/03/2015 23:24

Rubbish! How lovely! (well, not the thumb chewing). Give the MCats my best regards and a special belly tickle from me.

OP posts:
RubbishMantra · 09/03/2015 07:23

I most certainly shall Cory.

RubbishMantra · 09/03/2015 07:26

And good luck to Mr. C on his check up. I'm sure it'll go swimmingly.

Corygal · 09/03/2015 11:10

Back from the vet! All fine!

When they took his one thyroid gland out they noticed the other one was a bit enlarged, so they are checking his weight again on 8 April to see if there is any hyperthyroidism.

Mr C weighs 5.5kg, a pathetically small amount in my view as he is a large cat. But he's not fat, which impresses the vet.

Dreamies have been administered. As it's day off time, now we might watch a film and have a ham sandwich in front of telly.
