Didokitty died....why?

We are so terribly sad. This morning I came downstairs as usual to find the gorgeous Didokitty dead. She was less than 2 years old and last night was in the peak of health, eating, playing, lively and cuddly as usual. Nothing at all to suggest there was anything wrong.

And now she's gone.

Why would this happen to a healthy kitty? Could she have had a faulty heart or an aneurysm? She looked as though she had gone very suddenly with no obvious signs of distress and certainly no injuries.

Crying lots. We loved our Didokitty.

Flowers and hugs to Jeans and Dido*

Bless your beautiful, furry and purry babies.

DidoTheDodo · 01/03/2015 17:03

Oh jeans I do feel for you.
I had to put all didokitty's stuff away immediately. I couldn't bear to come across it as it just made it worse. We buried her with her paws round her favourite toy. She looked like she was cuddling it.

I'm sure we'll get a new kitty in time - we have a very kitty friendly house, and there are lots of cats who might need us, but when we've healed a bit.

Love to you jeans and your fluffy.

Dido I am so sorry Sad. I don't know if you saw my thread further down but my cat has just recently almost died of heart failure. He spent 3 days in hospital when his lungs filled up with blood. He turned out to have a heart condition he was most likely born with. I've been reading more about it and apparently the most likely way of finding a problem is when it is too late Sad but it is very very common to happen around the 2-3 year age range. Our cat is only 1 and a rescue - we'd not even had him 3 weeks - and would have had a vet check up and a clean bill of health, so nobody would have known.
I hope you can find some solace in the fact that it was probably very quick.Flowers

sad I didn't see you thread but will look for it now. I am so sorry about your cat. That sounds awful...and just when he had his forever home.
So sorry :(

sad sorry, I've just read your other thread and realised your lovely boy is still with you...I'm afraid I read your post wrongly and thought he'd died. I'm so glad he's got you and you have him still!

Dido
I am sorry it wasn't too clear. We might slow down the illness for a few weeks, months or even a year or more but he is effectively going to die from this. I am so glad we have this time with him but also very sad that his life will be so drastically short. At least he was insured so we could afford for all the tests and treatment. We were at the vet today and she said average is about a year or 5 months if it was acute heart failure as our cat had.
How are you feeling tonight? It must be quiet there xx

DidoTheDodo · 05/03/2015 09:39

It's very quiet without her. I keep thinking I see her out of the corner of my eye.
