Lifetime pet insurance: Pet Plan v Argos v Animal Friends

Hi, I've been researching pet insurance (oh JOY) for my two kitties and would appreciate some advice. The kittens are 6 months old and in good health with no existing conditions. I want to get lifetime insurance for them but I'm finding it difficult to decide between providers. This is my shortlist - does anyone have experience with any of these companies/policies?

  1. Pet Plan Classic (£4k) - recommended by the vet and in other threads, but also the most expensive (£24.37/month for both cats)
  2. Argos Platinum - slightly less expensive than Pet Plan and covers a bit more (up to £7k/year instead of £4k)
  3. Animal Friends Superior Plus or Prestige - I've heard good and bad things about this company so maybe it depends which policy you have? Superior Plus is much cheaper (£16.46/month for both cats) so I am tempted.

Please let me know your experiences/thoughts on these. Thanks in advance!

(BTW, some providers have quoted more for the male than for the female. AIBU to find this weird?! I guess it's because males could fight more than females - but he's been neutered and I thought that meant he would fight less?!)

I have PetPlan and the two claims I've put in were paid immediately with no problems. One was paid direct to the vet for the treatment and I just got a statement afterwards; the other was for treatment I paid for, and they sent a cheque right away.

Very painless and quick and easy.

I'd go for whoever has the best reputation for paying out.

You don't want stress of money if your cat is sick or injured.

Animal friends are wriggly little worms and I am considering not allowing direct claims from them in my practice due to their wriggly/ slow paying features.

Whichever you choose op don't forget to buy it through a cashback site like quidco or topcashback.

Thanks everyone. My vet also recommended Pet Plan and said Animal Friends are slow to pay. I guess we should go with Pet Plan, I will see if a cashback site will take a bit of the sting out of the cost!!
