Helping a moggy who's losing his marbles

The vet has confirmed what I suspected, that much-loved DCat is losing his grip on reality. Health wise he is in good shape for 15.5 years but he gets muddled, messes outside his trays even though they are both fully cleaned at least once a day. I have a Feliway plug-in and have bought steam cleaner to cope with accidents.

Any other ideas to help him (or us) make life as nice as possible for him? TIA Thanks

How's his eyesight, do you think? I mention that because I noticed Seniorboy doing some different things and appearing to get muddled occasionally and we worked out that he has very little sight left. (The vet can barely tell, clinically, because it's just eye degeneration and not cataracts or something similarly noticeable.)

We've helped him by keeping to a rigid routine and not moving furniture and things more than absolutely necessary. (And talking to him a lot - even more so than would be normal for a Siamese. You wouldn't want to come to cozietowers with a hangover!)

Sorry to hear this. Our Maine Coon was like this for the last two years of his life, he died last year at nearly 20. Merlin was completely blind for his last few months - which didn't help - and was given to spells of wandering around calling loudly and seeming disorientated. We dealt with this by giving lots of calm stroking and repetition of his name and loving cat-talk ( more of a challenge in the middle of the night!). I would echo not moving furniture around and keeping his environment as calm as possible.

we found a slept-in t shirt of her best human friend was handy for settling our old fostered girl at night she was half blind and quite deaf so the smell was the quickest way to calm her. It took us a while to realise that sometimes when she was outside with us she couldn't find the doorway to get back in -when she started circling and yowling we'd carry her in. Don't forget to make sure he cant slip out alone either.
