Having to rehome cats , but how ?

I'm having to move house to the other end of the country , I am going to be living in a flat for at least a year .
I have 5 cats & I love them dearly but I just can't take them all with me & I don't have anybody that could look after them for me as I have already tried asking everyone .

I can manage the two oldest , so that just leaves the three youngest that I have hand reared since they were 3 weeks old & they are now 18 months old , I'm in bits about this but I just don't have a choice .

What's the best way to rehome cats ?
They are all Neutered, microchipped & vaccinated which I'm guessing will help .

Please don't flame me , I'm looking for advice to ensure they go to a brilliant home/homes & don't end up as bait

I think the best route would be through someone like the cats protection who will do home checks for prospective new owners. If you could keep the cats until homes are found through them then I think it would help as I believe it is volunteer fosterers who look after the cats and with kitten season approaching they will be short on spaces.

I'd ring round all available good rescues and see if they can help, but providing you don't advertise as free to good home and are prepared to thoroughly vet potential owners then hopefully it will all work out well.

Good luck, it must be very hard.

I will get flamed for saying this but we just found a fabulous home for our boy on gumtree! Yes, we got some dodgy responses which we ignored, but this was genuine enquiry. A lovey older man looking for a companion and we visited and he had bought special fluffy blankets and chicken and toys....a perfect match. So yes, do be careful with Gumtree but not everyone on it is a psycho!

Have you tried the Cats Protection league? Think they are just called cats.org these days. I think they help with rehoming and adoption.

I have them advertised on preloved , I don't really know about gumtree as never used it but I'll have a look - Thanks

I'll ring Cats protection and see if they have any suggestions
