On a thread within the last month, someone posted a photo of their kitten in a jacket after her sterilisation op rather than a cone of shame.

If that was you or you have used the jackets, please could you recommend where to get one or even what they are called?!

Thank you Smile

They make proper "pet medical shirts" but I think some people just use baby clothes of the rough sort of size - I can't imagine my two being very cooperative if I tried to put a baby t-shirt on them and they weren't still unconscious at the time, so kudos for those who manage it! Grin

I think that people use cut-down Babygros. (I've never tried one.) You might find a decent one for very limited cost at a local charity shop if you have one nearby.

When I had my cat spayed she needed neither jacket or cone, it was never suggested?

It's only a teeny wound with no stitches, surely they only need something if they start to really worry at it?

Some cats do worry their wounds, I'm afraid.

Hi again,

One of my cats is overgrooming. She started last summer after a flea infestation. The flea issue is now resolved but she is still overgrooming.

We have feliway and give her lots of fuss and attention. The vet gave her a steroid injection before the flea infestation was sorted and that stopped her briefly.

We haven't changed her food so unlikely to be a reaction to that (or is it?).

We thought putting her in one of the coat things might be enough to break the habit without resorting to the cone. Her skin is sore in the patches where it is bald - she will lick and lick then pull her fur out.

Definitely no fleas now - I comb her daily!

Oh and thank you, I've looked at the 'medical cat shirts' - wow! I might look at baby grows!
