Plant eater!

I've never had a cat do that. My cat eats my plants when we are not there. Fortunately most are tall enough that she can't reach them, but the smaller ones are all nibbled. How do you stop a cat doing that???
The only one that is really poisonous (Nerium Oleander) is taller than me so way out of her reach so no real threat, but for peace of mind and out of love for my green babies I really would want her to leave them alone.

All you can do is put them out of the way. Have a safe sacrificial one or maybe grow cat grass. Cat grass my preference.

I don't know of any way to stop them eating plants if they're seriously minded to. (Seniorboy even ate some leaves from a silk ficus tree that I had in a previous house - now that's determined!) I'd find a good home for them, buy her some cat grass or a cat-friendly potted herb or two and then relax.

Thank you Sparky and Cozie. Oh well, I guess I'll have to cut the lower branches of my indoor trees and and move/donate my smaller ones.
I'm not mad for the grass I had a cat that kept puking when he ate that but it's worth a shot.
I'll try vinegar on the leaves. to see if that works.
But wow eating silk leaves is really impressive!

Do you give her a hand with her grooming? That would keep down ingestion of stray fur and might lessen the likelihood of vomiting - and, I guess, plant eating. Lots of games and maybe some foraging food toys when you're out as well can be considered - just to lessen the possibility of boredom eating.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Well, she has never vomited and hardly sheds, but it's been a while since I brushed her, I'll get on it. DP plays lots with her, but I was on the fence with the food foraging. I'll try it out to see if she likes it.
thank you for those tricks !

I posted about this earlier in the month. I've gifted a pot of parsley to my cat, which is getting chewed on as a snack, about an hour before dinner is due. And she's stopped eating the main herb garden and stripping leaves off my fern. FOR NOW.
