SHEDDING!

Have anyone else's beasts begun their spring shed-fest all of a sudden?

There is hair on freshly washed clothes.
There is hair piling in drifts upon the floor.
There is hair in the food, no matter how hard I try.
I just found a lump of hair in a clean mug.
There is hair everywhere.

No advice needed, just anyone else suddenly drowning in fluff?

Breathe deeply and get the hoover cord straightened.

Do you give her a hand with her grooming?

Mine's like this all the time! It is worse just now though. When we had floorboards in the old place, it was like watching tumbleweed roll across the floor. Now we have carpet, which is much worse and I am constantly hoovering as the silly moo lady who owned the house previously had laid cream carpet in the sitting/dining room, but yes it's everywhere. I found some in the fridge once!

Unfortunately mine will only let me brush her back and tail. If I try back legs or tummy, which is the worst place, she will savage me.

Forget the stomach or legs - that seems to be a declaration of war for most cats. If you can consistently do the rest - particularly the back and flanks - that should be a great help to her and she'll come to enjoy it. (I've just yelled 'Groooommmm?' to Seniorboy and he's woken up and, I can tell by his response, is actually coming here to get it.)

In my experience, the critical thing is the consistency. I suspect that grooming not only removes some clotted hair but loosens other hair so it seems to be better to do even a few minutes every night than a sudden long attack only when the notion takes you. (The cat will likely become more used to it also.)

Yes yes our ginger boy is shedding hair everywhere.

You need a furminator - worth their weight in gold!

For the lamb, a brush is as good as any other pat - ie amazing. This is good, as she does seem to be the predominant shedder and we brush daily- I made a lovely large snowball out of her fur today. Considering opening an upholstery business.

For the madcat, literally any attempt at grooming (we're on our fourth grooming appliance) is treated as though we are actively trying to slit her throat. It's unbearable for all involved and we have shamefully resorted to using a clipper on the dreadlocks as they arise and leaving her to it the rest of the time.

Louise wood floors here. I am glad it doesn't stick and forms handy clumps but yes the daily tumbleweed effect is quite something.
