Bright orange cat vomit

The children have stumbled upon a pile of bright orange stuff that looks an awful lot like Heinz tomato soup. It's in the spare room. On the window ledge. There are a couple of little footprints in it, and it has spattered in a pool with splashed in the same way vomit would splash. There is a bit of cat fur around it, but it's where the cats do sleep sometimes so not sure if that's just coincidental.

It's smooth, no lumpy bits, no bits of food, and it's taken a lot of thinking about re what else could it be, but I can't see that it can be anything other than vomit from the cat, no other way it could get where it is, or splash how it has.

Is it possible that this is cat vomit? Can they throw up bright orange puke? If it's a yes, I am guessing this is vet time right?

One of the cats aged around 12, has been sick (vomiting) a little recently, with no fur balls like when he is normally sick, but it's not been orange, it's either been food, or completely clear. Has also been hassling for water and food and I have been thinkng it's probably time for trip to vets, although he drinks more when the heating is on, and it's been cold here so heating is in more.

So glad I don't eat Heinz soup Envy

Might be an idea to give your vet a call. Sometimes they do get a bit sicky as they age and their systems don't work as well.

Let us know how it goes.

choc I don't either, any more Grin got an appt with vet on Monday, emergency vets if concerns over weekend.

He seems relatively perky in himself, we had fusses and he is purring and nuzzling as usual, although, he feels a bit bony around his shoulders I noticed (hes a big lump of a cat, so still heavy to pick up and has lots of fur so weight loss not as noticeable as our tiny cat), and his nose is wet (is it meant to be wet or dry? Always get cats and dogs the wrong way around). Saw him eating this afternoon after posting though, not pigging like he normally does, but eating nevertheless. And meows at the tap for water as usual (poor thing should have been raised by a river or flowing stream as he loves to drink running water).

Not come home tonight to any more tomato soup style puke !

Our cats nose is wet purely because its usually attached to one or other faucet!

Fingers crossed for Monday.
