Just wondering what others do. I always leave a light on for my cat when it is dark. Is it necessary?

Gosh, I'm no opthalmologist - and cat vision is a complicated thing with such matters as movement coming into it. I think, though, that cats aren't so good with static objects at close quarters. They're good at routine, though, so maybe put her Dreamies in the same place every time and start using a distinctive catchphrase to tell her they're there? I would have thought that that would do it if she likes them.

Think cats have great distance vision, but most of the visual acuity is straight ahead. They have poor peripheral vision and due the shape of their pupils directly under their noses is a very difficult place to see.

thank you cozie and lonecat it is very interesting. I will get in a routine with the deamies. I usually take them to her but putting them in the same place each time is a very good suggestions cozie Smile

Must be a bummer of an area for research and treatment.

'OK, Seniorboy, if you could just sit down here and perform this routine test?'

Er - I don't think so! Grin

I recall that when I discussed Seniorboy's vision with his vet a couple of months back, there was really very little that she could test for clinically - mostly she had to rely on my observations of his behaviour. Maybe that's true of many cat ailments though - they're not exactly the most cooperative of patients.

That's definitely true cozie they are not the most cooperative patients.
