BOTH cats missing within 24 hours?

Hi, I'm a fairly regular poster but namechanged as this is very identifying!

I'm heartbroken - both my cats have gone missing within 24 hours. One left after breakfast on Monday morning, the other did the same on Tuesday and I've not seen anything of them since. We left the catflap open overnight but their food hasn't been touched. The house feels so empty without them, I'm starting to realise they're missing and have called the vets, chip company, knocked for neighbours etc.

One of them has been missing for the odd night before but usually at this time of year they're in the warm and hassling me for their dinner by about 4pm. I just can't work out how they can both be missing, it keep thinking to myself 'to lose one cat may be regarded as misfortune, to lose 2 looks like carelessness' and I keep wondering what I've done wrong. Nothing has changed at home that I can think of!

Any advice or words of comfort would be very appreciated.

Oh, I'm so sorry for your awful news. Hope you are ok :(

Oh I'm so sorry for your loss. Sad Yes, I'd imagine the other was watching over him. My little cat used to pee of my old boy's grave to keep the foxes away. They're very protective. I'm glad your other lad is home.

You can get cameras that attach to collars that will track them if you're worried about that awful article. That chilled me to think that anyone could be so cruel.

I'm so sorry to hear that , poor cat. Glad you have the other one home safely. X

Thanks everyone. He was a very special and patient cat and I keep 'seeing' him round the house but I feel grateful for the fact we got 4.5 wonderful years with him. I'm also pleased that I can look back and say I loved him and appreciated his presence in our lives every day. I think there's not much more you can ask for in a relationship with a pet. Am curled up in bed with the remaining cat who seems a lot happier after some intensive cuddles this evening. Please give all your lovely cats an extra squish tonight!

So sorry to hear your news but glad you know what happened. There's nothing worse than when they just disappear and you don't find out. I hope your other cat is ok and getting lots of cuddles Sad

I'm so sorry. Knowing what happened is the one positive bit. My son lost one of a pair of sisters to the road recently, the other one was very clingy for a while :( Big hugs for you and your other cat.
