And also will neutering male cat (7 months old so due to be done anyway) reduce the smell?

Sainsburys own brand ultra clumping is very similar to sanicat gold plus cheaper - Sanicat Clumping Gold Fluffy? If that's the case, I'll give it a go. The old Clumping Gold is pricey...

I have found the Pets at Home own brand wooden pellets to be the best for odour control, I have owned cats for the last 6 years and that is definitely the best cat litter we've come across (having tried many many brands and types!).

Hmm, slightly paranoid now that our house stinks and I just don't notice it anymore!

catsarebastards thank god my dog isn't the only one that thinks cat shit is a delicacy!!

I have often found myself trying to drag the dog away from the litter tray and then i think "why the hell am i fighting a dog over a lump of cat shit?" Confused so i leave him to it when he gets there first.

I wonder if it's just the adult cat wee then that is causing the smell with mine rather than the litter not being up to the job. Will use up this box of ultimate odour control and get him neutered this week and see how it goes. This box should last a few weeks.

We use the gel/crystal one, which works well. I think it's Bob Martin's. We used to use one called I Can't Believe My Nose Grin but can't get that any more.

nousernamesleft · 09/11/2014 21:31

We use worlds best, and a covered tray. Scoop lumps daily, shit whenever it's done, and empty, wash and refill monthly. Two cats, two trays, and no smell. A big bag is £25 from zooplus, and lasts ages (3-4 months).
Beware covered trays with dogs though, my sisters stupid lab managed to get his head stuck in the door, and spread litter everywhere trying to escape. Angry

We use a closed litter tray which is decent but the litter still dictates sadly as you need a fair bit to fill one of those things. I tried out asdas own and jesus the smell of shit CLUNG to her.. I had to wipe her down.

Lucky she's not fussy about litter.

We're using felight antibacterial which is a fiver a bag but 3 for 2 at tescos I think and I swear I haven't even had a waft of shit. Even sieving for dumps wasn't the eye watering thing it usually is.

FannyFifer · 10/11/2014 10:06

That's a few of us recommended the Felight one now. Tis the best I tell you.

Catsarebastards · 10/11/2014 11:53

Grin i shal start with felîght fanny, just to please you!

I really like Bob Martin felight, it has anti bac gel stones in it and seems to last longer than Catsan for me.

Second to that would be Catsan though!

FannyFifer · 10/11/2014 13:50

Ha ha, make sure you return to thread to give ur verdict (and the cats). Grin

FannyFifer · 10/11/2014 13:51

Felight should be paying me commission!

Catsarebastards · 10/11/2014 20:07

They really should fanny! Email them a link to this thread with an invoice for your services Grin
