One thin cat, one fat cat

We adopted two rescue sisters a year ago. One was a little bigger than the other to start with but the difference is definitely more noticeable now and the vet says she is heading towards overweight. The other is very slim and could go skinny quite easily. But how to get one to eat less and not the other? Anyone managed this?

Feeding them in separate rooms isn't really an option due to the layout of the house. The share a pouch of Felix morning and evening, we are trying to give slim cat the larger portions, both wolf these down. But we also leave some dry food down during the day when we are out and overnight, so I suppose they have got in the grazing habit and it is possible fat cat is eating the lion's share. The amount they have daily is what the packet recommends.

How are finances at the moment? This will be available in the autumn but it's a bit pricey for my purse. (Maybe some of the big sites will offer it more cheaply as they do for the Sureflap itself,)

Do they go outside?

Sorry - I was referring to the 'Surefeed', Sureflap's forthcoming microchip cat feeder. (The site doesn't seem to want to let me pick up the link but you can see it if you go to the web.)

Thanks, I had a look into the various auto feeders a few months ago when we were considering options for weekends away and the reviews were very mixed. We have been very happy with the Sureflap though.

I think I'd be wanting to know bowl sizes/availability of spare bowls as well as issue date and price. They originally said 'available in the summer' but that seems to have slid a bit so maybe they're having some production issues.

It's just that Seniorboy for example is very fussy with his wet food - likes it to be fresh as fresh even in summer - so I think I'd like to know someone's experiences particularly with a view to keeping it clean and (possibly) popping in clean bowls regularly. (Depending on their size, it might be possible to substitute other and cheaper bowls.)
