how to stop my kitten from biteing?

My kitten bites. She doesn't do it in a nasty way, but when she is playing she scratches and bites/nibbles. She is also not a huge fan of being picked up. I have 3 young children and I don't want her to hurt them by accident. How can I get her out of this having?

Get another kitten. They'll playfight each other, and you and your dc are safe.

Or, get lots of cat toys (esp those dangly ones) and she'll do most of her biting and scratching on them.

Otherwise, she'll outgrow this habit eventually, and your dc will learn fast to walk away when kitten goes into play mode.

She'll outgrow the biting most likely, but if you want to help her learn, then when she bites you, blow gently (like you're blowing on hot food) into her face. Every cat I've ever met hates it with a passion, but it doesn't hurt or scare them.

In my experience most cats don't really like being picked up, though some are better at tolerating it. On that front I'd maybe suggest there's a 'no picking up' rule for a bit, just while she's still settling. Either that or pick her up but always give her a treat when you do!

Whereas mine will literally jump in to your arms.

Bot hear the blow in face, that sounds good. Also a 'No' and stop the game can help

overreact to any bite or scratch with a loud oww!
Kittens are still learning what's acceptable and what hurts.
if they bite or scratch you need to react and stop the game/attention immediately (not for too long though!)

our cats will tolerate being held but we did give them lots of treats when they were little for being so tolerant!

Normal kitten behaviour as far as I'm aware - my kitten certainly doesn't this (more so in the evening for some reason - when he sits next to me and just goes for it!)

I say 'no' and he then starts licking instead, though when he gets too play fight with me I remove myself or put him down with his toys (I've not got many few toy mice and a scratch post with a dangly thing)

One tip I was given was not to pull your hand away, as this seems like a game to them and they will chase you hand and it'll teach them it's ok to 'hunt' hands

*does do this - not doesn't do this!!!
