Can your cat recognise things like birds on the TV?

When I was a kid - in the 70s - we had a cat who would go nuts if there were birds on the TV. She'd bat the screen, go behind it, make that chattery noise etc. I've never had a subsequent cat who seems able to recognise anything on the TV. Do I just have thick cats, or is it something to do with the change in quality of the screens/pixels/whathaveyou?

Mine like a certain type of music.

They even seem to enjoy me singing to them... Confused

ours isn't too fussed about the TV, but will sit and watch the menu screen on the Xbox for HOURS. And if the disk ejects she goes bananas! in fact if she hears the Xbox turning on noise she'll run over t
so she doesn't miss anything!

One of mine likes youtube videos of mice - she pats the screen & goes to look behind if they "go off the side"!

The other cat completely ignores them - no idea whether she knows they're not real so doesn't bother - she is the brighter of the two.
