Home from the shelter a couple of hours ago, there was me, most concerned that she isn't overwhelmed and is given lots of space to help with the settling in nerves. Not much sign of those!

The sniff and rub inspection appears to have finished after about the 60th circuit, now settling in with a chew toy and a spider that was dispatched within 20 minutes of arrival.

Only problem is that she is named Chanelle, after the BB contestant. Old servant was a big fan of BB apparently, brothers/sisters named Chantelle, Ziggy, Bubbles etc. Hoping we can get a name change through...

Loving the name Audrey. She is beautiful :)

ShakeYourTailFeathers · 24/10/2014 21:05

We changed both our cats names when we adopted them - not been difficult at all. The kitten came with a very festive name when we adopted him on xmas eve... that couldn't be kept!

I've never trimmed claws, don't worry. Seeing as the older one savages you if you try and stroke her i'm not intending to try any time soon!

Audrey is a very pretty girl Grin

Seniorboy came to me at 13/14 as an ill-disciplined hellion. (My Mum was surprisingly hopeless.) It took me two or three weeks to accustom him to claw nipping and grooming. Now that he's so elderly, it's imperative of course - his arthritis and lack of full teeth means that he needs the help badly.

I do claw nipping without quarter (as with going in his carrier.) Tell him to be quiet and that it's 'business'. So - upending him on to his rear end and have at them - but I have proper clippers which are important. (They're efficient and fast .)

MrsBertMacklin · 24/10/2014 21:26

Cozie, are your clippers a particular make? I grabbed some in haste and they are duff.

Had them for years I'm afraid. (I bought some of those with 'holes' as a backup and I despise them. ) I'll have a look see on the web - the ones I use have a spring/tension thing and blades so are real quick and accurate. (They may not be for cats specifically.)

cozietoesie · 24/10/2014 21:40

Wow! Google I love you! This is they. I'm not sure about brands and price but that is what the ones I use look like - to a 'T'.

MrsBertMacklin · 24/10/2014 22:14

Thank you, will upgrade if leaving the claw matter between the cat and her scratching post doesn't work out.

PS - new Audrey photo. Post-vet, hence slightly peevish expression.

Audrey! She looks so alert and bright and pretty!

I clip my cats claws too, quick, fast, no nonsense, before they have time to figure out what's happening!

Aw what a cute little poppet! Smile
