BoyCat is limping

He is fine with me touching his paw but had a definite limp when I got in. It seems to have eased off a bit, there is no obvious injury, and he ran to try and finished GirlCat's dinner Grin but a limp isn't good, is it?

Once before he had been bitten by GC we think and he had a definite wound and limp and had to see the vet and was given antibiotics and kept in for a few days.

Any advice please as I tend to panic and worry whereas DH thinks we should wait a little bit.

BC is currently asleep on my side of the the sofa Grin.

If there's no damage to claws or wounds and he can run if he needs to I'd keep him in overnight and see how he is in the morning.

He's probably landed awkwardly.

PumpkinsMummy · 02/10/2014 17:18

I would wait too. Last week girl cat managed to squeeze through an impossible gap and fall off an upstairs windowsill Shock. She came in bleeding and limping and I was seconds away from bundling her into her cat carrier and taking her sobbing to the vets.

After half an hour sulking over her embarrassment and licking her (ever so slightly scraped) paw clean she was fine. I think she just landed awkwardly as she has been fine ever since.

Use your judgement over night if she is putting weight on it and acting normally otherwise.

GC? I'm thinking Grandchildren? Grin

I would wait and see if still limping tomos maybe ring vets for advice.

Girl cat Wink

girliefriend · 02/10/2014 17:37

haha that makes much more sense, although naughty Girl cat for biting!

Itsfab · 02/10/2014 19:31

BC is currently asleep on his back, in my arms like a baby Grin

In that case I would suspect he is fine and is in fact playing on your sympathies! Little bugger, so relieved he's fine though.

Itsfab · 02/10/2014 19:43

do you think?

Totally played me

I wonder if he knows I bought him treats today instead of crisps for me Shock

He could have pulled a muscle. Keep a weather eye on him and see how he is tomorrow? (If it's any consolation, I've never known a cat to play for sympathy in just that way.)

Itsfab · 03/10/2014 10:42

He is back to normal today but I am still watching him, when he deigns to come in Grin.

Well if you've bought treats, he should be in more often I would have thought?

Feral kitten once had a terrible limp on a Friday night. I couldn't get to an emergency vets so I had to just keep an eye on her feeling terribly worried. She limped about looking sorry for herself, then on Saturday morning, was absolutely fine.

Also on Friday night there was a dead mauled wasp found on the window sill. I'm assuming that she was the wasp killer.

Which means she took a bullet for me Smile because I'm horrifically allergic to wasp stings.

When he came in he did rather look at me expectantly.

sorry, didn't mean the limp was for show, rather that he was perhaps hamming up being all cuddly and adorable for extra treats!

Itsfab · 03/10/2014 19:05

I knew what you meant PM. Cats can't fake a limp imo.

Not that I know of anyway. We used to have a dog that did tho, she used to forget which leg she was meant to be limping on and switch around.
