Is Frontline enough?

I have a mostly indoor cat. Sometimes, if he is feeling brave, he will walk out into our enclosed garden for a few minutes.

My vet will always recommend Advocate but I know I can get Frontline for cheaper and without a prescription.

So my question is, if I treat him with Frontline and Drontal worming tablets , is that good enough?

It should be fine, although fleas are acquiring a resistance to it. You may do better with Advantage, which can also be bought without prescription. To check though get yourself a flea comb and check for flea dirt in your cat's fur.

Thanks catneuterer, I may as well try Advantage instead then. I had been a bit slack with the flea treatments as my cat rarely went outside, but had a panic the other day when I noticed big red insect bites up my legs and around my knees - not sure if this is fleas.

No. I have indoor cats. Frontline did not work resulting in a long battle with fleas, anaemia in one cat etc etc. finally I got told to use advocate, it cleared up within a couple of days. Just get the prescription and buy online. From experience you may just as well be using nothing as frontline.

I was told by my vet to alternate Frontline and Advocate as Advocate doesn't protect against ticks whereas Frontline does.

smokeandglitter I've always felt a bit odd about asking the vet for a prescription and then going off to buy it cheaper online. Don't they mind?
