And I have nobody else to tell!! I'm talking to them at the moment!

I'd love a Ragdoll but wanted to offer a home to a rescue cat rather than fuel the supply/demand chain of kittens.

Anyone here have a raggie?

No but just wanted to share your excitement!! And also remind you to post pics when you get one for us all to coo over. Ragdolls are meant to be lovely cats, I'm very jealous!

wantacatplease · 26/09/2014 11:35

Oh oh! I'd love to rescue a ragdoll but there are no rescues near me. Yay for you! V v Envy

MagratsHair · 26/09/2014 11:38

You will be sick of me & my pics when I finally get my cat! :D

Home visit in a couple of weeks! :)

I wonder what they are looking for in a home visit? xx

I don't think they look for much, just to make sure you're relatively normal, don't have a house backing on to a motorway (if it's a cat that goes out, I know some ragdoll people don't let theirs) and that you've put a bit of thought into the practicalities...fairly basic stuff really.

MinimalistMommi · 26/09/2014 12:49

I'm getting a Ragdoll soon!

MagratsHair · 26/09/2014 13:03

Aren't they just gorgeous minimalist!

Thanks tab.

Do you need to have indoor cats chipped?

I'm struggling with deciding between a girl or a boy.

MinimalistMommi · 26/09/2014 13:20

What pattern might they have do you know?

Desperate is it a boy or a girl raggy?

cozietoesie · 26/09/2014 13:29

Maybe have a read of this Magrats following all the links through to get extra background - I think they're all live links.

MagratsHair · 26/09/2014 13:54

I've got two raggies and I love them to pieces. Very docile, soft and gentle. Lucky you!!

happygardening · 27/09/2014 09:22

We have a 6 month old ragdoll cat. Before him we've always had cats with more of a wild streak if that makes sense. We got one because of we wanted an interactive cat, and because of our physical location, size of our garden and in particular height of our garden wall.
Ragdolls are funny, daft, affectionate, interfering, playful, surprising brave, not very bright, stunningly beautiful, very greedy, very poor jumpers (which is why I first looked at them) cats (I actually think he thinks he's a dog). I would definitely recommend one and when our other current ageing moggy cat dies will definitely get another, I'm hooked. They do like and need company, human is preferable but other cats and dogs are fine. Our breeder screened us very carefully to ensure we would give him enough company.
Ours has blue points which was my first choice but the second one might be a seal point although I may stick with the blue. They are big by the way 18lbs I understand is common in males, they also have the softest fur imaginable.
Good luck let us know how you get on.

This is my mums indoor Raggie , he's a tufty toes type and although he is very lazy he is extremely high maintenance and has my mum very well trained .

I have two raggies! They have so much personality and are both so loving and gentle, even though they are so different too. They converted my dad to cats despite him being nervous and hating them all his life! They are so amazing, fun to play with and always greet me at the door. I've also found they've been great with other animals and regularly come to stay at my parents with me and DH getting along well with our old dog who had never been particularly exposed to cats before.

Can't explain how much I love them! Grin

Well they haven't got back to me with a date for a home visit, I spoke to them last Friday. Sent them a polite message on Tues asking if they had any idea of a date yet & still nothing from them...

I have a rescue Raggy x British Blue and he is very beautiful indeed. He is quite cobby like a British Blue but has the long fur and temperament of a Raggy. I would second what everyone else says - they are very dog like and very human focused and love attention. Mine is also massive, very clumsy and rather dim. There is no way in a million years he could be an outside cat as his reaction to virtually anything is to lie on his back and look at the ceiling. As I said, not very bright!
Hope that you manage to get one as they are really lovely cats!

Charlilou490 · 04/10/2014 12:11

I have 3 raggies, they're all beautiful!
They're called Willow, Misty and Ollie!
