Sticky eyes?

Obie.. nearly 16 weeks, has slightly sticky eyes.. he's ginger so has small crusts in the inner corners. I have wiped them but they come back. Tonight I noticed he has a slightly crusty nose too..not running, but just a little crusty edge. He is eating, trashing the place as normal (little toad has chewed through two iphone cables!) and seems well in himself, but should I be concerned? He's due to be neutered in a week, so do I need to take him in before then or get some drops/treatment before. He really seems fine in himself, but I'd hate to miss something!

You might just be able to see it in this pic... the babies are rivetted by daddylonglegs tonight :D

And I'm too rivetted by that picture really - that pair are almost edible!

Have they had all their shots, Medusa?

Yes, all jabbed up, microchipped and just need neutering now :)

They are gorgeous and developing their personalities daily. Obie is naughty (keep having to drag him out of the dishwasher tonight as he figures he should be cleaning the plates with his tongue..he eats anything!) and quick..and bolshy. He keeps stalking poor Portia who is not happy about it!
Ophie is delightful..huge purr and very snugly and knows her place. They are both VERY vocal and call for us, or each other if out of sight! Portia is also all up to date with her jabs so I don't think he can have caught anything from her (also she is only coming in briefly still, tho she is starting to sleep with ds1 at night as his room is downstairs). He has had sticky eyes all along but just a little bit, but it is noticible in his wicked ginger face!

It's just that I've noticed that Seniorboy, who has recurring cat flu (I'm calling it that as a shorthand because the whole topic is so horribly complicated what with the post-viral mumbles and other issues) seems to have an 'episode' about every three to four months these days because his immune system is about a much use as a limp asparagus tip - and the precursor is invariably a noticeable deposit on the inner corner of his left eye and a very slight discharge from the nostril on that side of his face. He'll start with the sneezing and snottering about a week to 10 days afterwards.

Now he's an old cat and not a fit young kitten so it may be that Obie has a slight infection and will fight it off without problem in a day or two - or it may even be that it's just a characteristic of his to have slightly heavier 'sleep' in his eyes and he's not grooming as well as he ought. Which sums up to 'I don't know' I guess and maybe one of the vets who post will see this thread and give you a view.

(I seem to recall by the way that Lone recommended cold tea as a wipe for eyes due to the tannin content.)

You have a vet who you know and trust if I remember rightly? If so, why not give him a buzz tomorrow and seek his view. He'll be the one doing the snip on Obie after all.
