We have had our new baby Coons for days and they are fabulous. Getting more friendly by the day, both purring gambolling balls of fun.
The barrier gate has gone..as Obie scaled it, came downstairs, ate Portia's food and then tried to pounce on her!! She was remarkably restrained and just gave a disgusted hiss and walked off Grin He is now everywhere.

Ophie on the other hand will NOT come downstairs.. she seems terrified of them. I did carry her down tonight but she was scared stiff in the living room and bolted back up.. fine but she then sits at the top crying for her braver brother!

I presume she will eventually come down (obviously they have food and litter upstairs still, but I'd like them to have it downstairs soonish as they kick it everywhere even with a covered tray!) but any tips on how to make her feel safer?

Here are some pics from tonight.. Obie is the ginger and Ophie the brown tortie. :) I just love Obie's rear end sleeping position Grin

Quite quite gorgeous.

Are the stairs open by any chance?

MedusaIsHavingaBadHairday · 05/09/2014 00:07

No..just your standard wall on one side and bannister (openish) on the other.

Had a tiny breakthrough after I posted.... after much pathetic squeaking for her brother, Ophie appeared at the bottom of the stairs. She won't come in the living room but has sniffed her way round the hall and nicked a few bits of kibble from Portia's bowls in the kitchen Smile so I guess she is getting there!
In the bedroom she is the brave one, all purrs and belly rubs. But he is definitely going to be the top cat in the house!

I'd leave her to it for a good few days then. There are so many new dynamics - new house, new people, her brother, Portia etc etc - that I'm not sure you can disentangle things at the moment. Hopefully, she'll sort it out herself.

Just keep a good routine going for her.

Obie is all stretched out, like a flying superman! Grin I love it when cats do that!

The stairs thing, MCat went through this when he and DH moved in with me. Having never seen stairs, he was spooked by them. I sat on the stairs with him, giving him a fuss and bribing him with Dreamies. It took us about an hour to negotiate the stairs, with me slowly shuffling down on my bottom. He was fine after that.

I've got an appointment to go meet some cats at a rescue centre today and seeing these pictures have made me all cat-broody Smile
