Trouble with an intruder

So, have three cats of our own. Had, until recently, a standard cat flap. Everyone came and went as they pleased, everyone happy.

Then we started getting an intruder. Strange cat started coming in, eating all of my cats' food and spraying. Just the little squirts that's marking territory, not big puddles, so assume it is an un-neutered tom (?). But it STINKS! All our cats are chipped so we invested in a microchip-activated cat flap. But the little bugger is still getting in. If he doesn't get in through the cat flap (think sometimes it doesn't quite shut properly, or he follows one of mine in), he comes in through any open door or even a window (was laying in bed the other night and he appeared on the windowsill and ran straight across my bed and down the stairs).

It's getting beyond a joke now. One of my cats is elderly and has a special biscuit for sensitive tums. It costs a fortune and I'm sick of this cat freeloading and eating it all. Not to mention the smell and the marking all over the house.

I can't get anywhere near this cat but it doesn't have a collar. No idea what to do. What I want to do is trap it, drive about three hundred miles and then let it out. But he'd probably find his way back!

Had anybody got any thoughts on what I can do?

Many thanks.

You need a microchip cat flap and a latch for upvc windows so you can leave windows ajar without him coming in.

Do you think he's homeless and unable to cope living rough?.

We've got a microchip cat flap already. What I want is for this cat to fuck right off. Why do I have to turn my house into Fort Knox? I was wondering if a cat charity would help, if he is homeless. Tempted to catch him (somehow!) and take him to the vet, see if he's chipped and has an owner or whether he's a stray.

If he's getting in either the flaps faulty or he's following one of your cats in, which means they are possibly friends.

There is a chance that you now have 4 cats.

Put a paper collar on him saying "is this your cat? Ring 0123457899"

How do they react to him? My cats had friends who were allowed in when I was little.

Well the flap doesn't always shut properly when mine come through (one, in particular, kind of slides through slowly and the door doesn't have the momentum to click back into place). Manufacturer (Staywell Petporte) aren't really interested.

It's funny you say that. I've never seen him come up against any of them (they are usually asleep somewhere) but I've never heard any yowling or fighting either. He seems invisible to them.

I could live with the eating of the food, if that's all it was. It's the spraying that's got to stop!

I think it's sureflap that people on here who've got one buy.

Try emailing the CEO of stay well, I get better results bypassing customer services.

It wouldn't solve the problem of the cat if he has no owner & you cut off his supply of food & shelter.

I think your cats like him, mine would go mental if another cat came in.
