My cat transport box finally fell apart today, so I need to invest in a new one. Any recommendations?

I've changed from a rigid plastic one to a folding fabric one - it's much easier to store & seems more comfortable too.

Will find you a link, hang on

Although medium is the smallest they have in this style now - mine is small & still pretty big! - there are others though so have a look round.

I tend to put it out for a few days before they have to go anywhere & they happily snooze in it Smile

Don't go for the folding fabric ones!!! They may be OK for a very placid cats, but I've known feisty cats to be able to destroy them and get out!.

Really the key is quality. Make sure whatever you choose has at least a metal door and not a plastic one. I like the all wire top-loader type, but I don't actually know where you can buy them (except in bulk from specialist suppliers for cat rescues, which is where ours seem to come from).

Why not a plastic door? Wondering if I need to replace mine!

splendide Plastic doors just aren't strong enough. Unfortunately we see people lose cats all the time on their way to the clinic because the carriers they use just aren't strong enough to withstand a very frightened and large cat battering itself against the door. If your cat is small and placid you probably don't need to worry though.

I have two very sturdy plastic with metal door carriers - one in normal cat size and one small dog size for evilgingercat who doesn't fit in the normal one. My old cat ate/scratched his way out of a less sturdy one, resulting in me running into the vets with disintegrating carrier clutched to my chest.
They've lasted 17 years, so were a good buy

Thanks for all the advice and suggestions. I've found an online supplier of the wire toploader boxes here but I need to take Rhubarbcat2 back to the vet for a post op check on Monday, so I need to check if I can cram her into her sister's rather small box for that. If it's too small I'll have to just find something in one of the local shops/garden centre tomorrow for her.
