Vaccines have made my cat poorly :(

My little cat had her vaccines and was chipped at 9.30 this morning. I brought her home from the get and she went straight under the bed and hasn't come out. I've never known her to miss her dinner before, I'm so worried about her. Is it normal for them to make her a bit unwell?

Yes thank goodness she'd been spayed already. I suspect she was only spayed at all because she was pregnant (by her brother Shock ).

I'm honestly not normally quite this wet, I blame the pregnant hormones.

The card says her next jabs are in a year.

Cross post with nana there! I think you're right.

My big old boy BluePig had a terrible
Time with vaccinations, he had to have an anti inflammatory injection at the same time (after the first set when I thought he was dying)
I know you will but make sure you tell your vet all about this incident (assuming she continues to improve & you don't take her back)
It sounds like she's on the mend. I hope she has some dinner.
Just as an afterthought, when I worked at a Cattery, we used up give pilchards in tomato sauce to cats who wouldn't eat. It stinks to high heaven but they seem to love it.

Hmmm mixed success with the fish. She jumped down from the dressing table and did her happy food prance when I clinked her bowl but then only ate one mouthful. Better than nothing I guess.

She's interested and ate a mouthful so I reckon she's on the mend. She sounds in better spirits anyway?

cozietoesie · 29/06/2014 16:32

PS - Seniorboy despises fish with the sole exception of tuna in brine - which he's not allowed because of the brine. Have you tried her with a small amount of ordinary wet food? (In this weather, any you've already put down may be drying out and not so toothsome to a delicate stomach.)

Thank you, you are a cat genius!

Just given her some of her normal food and finally success! She's eaten about a quarter of a pouch and had a drink of water. Now on the bed (rather than under) and snoozing nicely.

I really think it's

Sorry! Was just saying I really thinks it's all going to be ok now.

Here she is by the way (on happier days):

She's gorgeous :) such a glossy coat, I bet she's lovely to stroke. Eating is a great sign, I reckon she'll be back to herself by tomorrow.

cozietoesie · 29/06/2014 18:18

Lovely girl.

Smile

Did you manage to get a cuppa yourself?

crazynanna · 29/06/2014 18:26

Aww she looks like she has the life of Riley in all the pics
Do glad she's ok

crazynanna · 29/06/2014 18:27

So frigging twatphone

Wishyouwould · 29/06/2014 18:27

So pleased she seems so much better - she is just gorgeous!! Smile

splendide · 29/06/2014 18:48

She is extremely spoiled really, but she deserves it!

I'm now having some dinner and calming down. Bridget had more food and now doing more sleeping. She's just a happier shape, does that make sense? Nice and curled up rather than hunched.

cozietoesie · 29/06/2014 18:54

Excellent. Once you've had your nosh, I'd go and lie down with her and cuddle/relax if I were you. I think you deserve it.

Well done.

Glad she's ok now. She's so pretty, looks just like mine! :)

Waxlyrically · 29/06/2014 19:09

Just came on to see how she was. Great that's she's on the mend! Was in your shoes a few months ago and it's is so worrying but amazing how quickly they recover. she's all protected from some really nasty things now though so well worth the anguish.

splendide · 30/06/2014 09:30

Phew! All better this morning! Ate lots of breakfast, had the biggest drink of water I've ever seen and was snuggled in bed with my other half when I left for work.

Thanks again for all the support!

Good news. I'm glad she's fine.

Great news, it sounds like she feels exactly the same as my cat after the jabs. I think it must leave them feeling like they have flu, but thankfully it's short lived. You've done the best thing for her getting her vaccinated and chipped.
