For some reason my lovely girl likes to go in our neighbours garden. Not the side that are lovely and like cats, oh no...but the other side who do not like cats at all.

He came over last night when I was out and told DH that he had gone into his shed (obv left door open) and our cat ran out and she had done a poo in there. He also said that she had done a poo in his garden before. DH apologised and I am going to buy him a water pistol to squirt at her and obviously will offer to clean up any poos she leaves there.

Does that sound adequate? Really don't see what else I can do to appease them. My DS was most defensive bless him, quite outraged about it all but then she is his cat and he adores her :)

Leaving aside the issue of how he knew it was actually her, has she got a cat flap into and a litter tray inside your own house? If she happens to be one of those cats who prefer to poo in shelter. she might prefer the safety of your own place.

Do you have a shed of your own OP? My friends cat was pooing in their neighbours' garden so they put a cat flap on their own shed and put a bed and litter tray in there which solved the problem. You mightnt even need a shed. A small dog kennel would do.

Cozie - no she doesn't have a cat flap as our last cats bought in so many creatures like a dead magpie, a rat, a frog we decided not to bother......and no litter tray either. I have seen her poo outside so she isn't bothered about shelter, I think he just left his shed door open and she took her chances, lol.

Yes, I did say to DH how does he know that she has poo'd in his garden - I'll give him the benefit of the doubt re his shed because he said he saw her but apart from that I don't know.

They are funny sods anyway, we don't have the nicest neighbourly relationship with them so just don't want to make it any more difficult than it is.

STOP that's an idea....I will see if she does it again and if so then may buy a small kennel or something she can go in. Be nice for the winter anyway if she wants to be out whilst we are at work :)

I don't have any clever suggestions, but you are doing what I do and I've managed to avoid unpleasantness with my neighbours that way. Once you start asking how he knows it was your cat, things can go downhill.

I think you're going to have to consider a flap and tray of your own then - either in a shed if she'll like that or in the house. Some cats just prefer to do their business inside and these neighbour disputes over poo rarely go away once they've got to the point of someone coming round to remonstrate. (And to be fair, it's not much fun finding cat poo covering something, even if it's your own animal. That's one of the reasons why I've never minded my outside going boys coming back in to use their tray.)

I'd get a flap because you can't leave her out during the day in winter.

In winter ours gets a hot water bottle in his bed and a fleece blanket.

We have a kennel with a cat flap in the garden. It is raised off the ground & has two igloo beds inside. There is a little ramp to access the entrance. The cats are outside in all weathers & go into the kennel if they want shelter, although one prefers to sleep in the greenhouse if she can. Usually they come into the house overnight but often sleep in the kennel even in the winter.
