Another AWOL cat - very timid Kitty

Kitty's been with us for 3 months. Was a rescue and had a tough time, including at the sanctuary as they'd had to administer lots of medication etc so was just cowering all the time.

She's less than a year old, and since coming to us has been living in one room and gradually gaining in trust but still very, very timid. But she loves her food and hadn't yet had her breakfast when a window was left open yesterday and she went.

Kitty's microchipped but no collar. Even if we see her we won't be able to pick her up to bring her home as I'm sure sh'd run off.

She's only a skinny scrap of athing thing and has never been out before. Really worried about her.

Any advice would be welcomed.

And to everyone else with AWOL cats, hope yours comes home soon.

Is she spayed as well, polo ?

She might come back, if she's not eaten yet her tummy should bring her home.

After 3 months she's probably looked out of the windows & knows the layout really well.

Luckily it's a Sunday morning not Friday school run time.

Yes, she's spayed cozie

No sign of her.

Is putting food outside at night by the back door a good idea, do you think? And maybe her basket too, so she gets the scent of herself/home?

I'm worried that she wouldn't know how to get back in as she got out through a window and has never used the doors. Have left the window open today, but its high so not sure she could get up to it.

So she's just snuck out then, rather than going on the razzle. I suspect she's more likely, therefore, to be hanging around close by. (Not a certainty, though.)

Any chance of you going out in the garden this afternoon and - say - reading or doing something quiet? That might increase her confidence and attract her back.

She's been with you long enough to associate your house with food. I'm quite confident that you'll see her again after she's had a bit of an explore. I would also leave food out during the day (at least dried food and water) as at night the foxes are likely to eat it.
