Old girl is ill

I knew she wasn't well but thought because she's getting older and the heat.

Turns out she has quite a large tumour in the gut.

We need to find out if its spread.

Dreading the news and frickin gutted.

This is true, vet said as much.

She has eaten a little more but ignoring me :(

What were the vet's thoughts on prognosis and possible treatment given her age? (I'm guessing he would be thinking palliative care.)

Well you know, hope for best, prepare for worst.

Back on Friday for oncologists view. Doubt that chemo is an option though. She's a delicate, sensitive puss. So probably discuss pain options, until the time is right to let her go :(

We said goodbye to my old lady about a year ago as her tumours finally blocked her insides. She was 18 and my best friend in the world.

You will know what the right thing to do is whatever information they give you.
So very sad for you and your family

We've decided to go for steroid treatment, as chemo wouldn't give her much longer, once the course is finished.

Vet says she could have anywhere from a couple of weeks to a month. Perhaps slightly longer.

Poor baby girl. Have been stroking her whiskers and she's had a good old purr.

How has she done over the weekend?

How are things going chockbic? My old boy managed to carry on for just over 4 weeks on steroids, the response at first was wonderful but it became less effective as time went on

I was very grateful for the extra few weeks and for the fact that the steroids kept him comfortable & eating

I was also able to have a good think about when we would say enough was enough (and when that time did come it was obvious and we were quite a bit more prepared for it - I felt better in myself for having given the cat lots of love, attention & everything he wanted to eat in his last few days & weeks with us)

She is doing OK. Definitely not herself but OK.

Look at her little face and wonder if we are doing the right thing not getting the chemo.

Is such a hard decision to make.

Can't imagine not having her around :(
