Cat has diarrhoea - do I need to take her to the vet?

She's normally quite regular - once a day in her litter tray while I'm cooking dinner in the next room (thanks cat).

Saturday and today she's had three incidences of runny poo. No blood or mucas or anything and she's otherwise fine. Seems normal and perky.

What should I do? I don't want to needlessly distress her with a vet visit, she's really nervous.

Give her some plain white fish or chicken tonight & see how she is tomorrow.

She might have got hold of some milk somewhere & it's upset her tummy.

As Fluffy said, some plain fish or chicken tonight, plenty of water available and see how it goes. She may have got hold of something which has upset her and it'll sort itself out fairly quickly. It usually does.

Thanks I'll watch and wait. I'm hoping she'll be ok tomorrow. Not a reason to ignore it but I suppose if she were an outdoor cat I wouldn't even know anything was wrong.

It would depend just how caught short she was - diarrhoea can come on pretty quickly sometimes. She could make her tray but making it outside might just have been beyond her if she'd had to go outside.

She doesn't sound too bad though. See how she does overnight.

Well no mess this morning so fingers crossed! I wonder if she's been eating a lot of bugs, it's that time of year I suppose.

Is she a bin rummager? They can get their beak into a lot of food scraps which might disagree with them if you let up on food discipline for just an evening.

She isn't normally but I suppose it's quite possible she's found something awful under some furniture or something. She likes to stick her little front legs under radiators and things to pull out spiders.

They're a worry aren't they? I rescued her and she's always been a bit off (runt of the litter, hernia, I think a bit developmentally wrong poor girl) which is why she doesn't go out. Although she is frightening of outdoors anyway so even given the chance she avoids it.

Frightened I mean, she's definitely not frightening (unless you are a woodlouse).

She's all better now! Thanks cozie.
