A back story is linked ( I have name changed)

I am thinking of getting another kitten, the house isn't the same with out having a cat around.

Will not be till next month as I am going away so need to train and get jabs ect and I think it will be best if I got one when I am on leave from work.

How do I make sure I am getting a cat that is heathy

You can never be completely sure, ICan, but you and your previous girl were desperately unlucky with what happened. The overwhelming majority of kits roll along quite the thing if they've had halfway reasonable care.

Does it have to be a kitten though? There are loads of mature cats and young cats who are past the cute stage looking for homes at the moment.

I'm going for an adult rescue next time, current cat was expensive as a kitten, plus accident prone & feisty.

www.simonscat.com/Films/Crazy-Time/ This sums it up minus the broken glass & torn clothes when we got him in at night.

Baby animals are hard work.

I know it sounds made shallow but I enjoyed the Litter training and teaching a new kitten.

Get kittens then, there's plenty at the rescues.

Will a rescue centre do the spay operation before I have him/her

Not with a kitten at the age they generally let them go - a young adult generally, yes, if you're feeling edgy about that. (Understandably.)

Rescues will usually ask you for a 'donation' for the animal - which, for an adult cat, will usually include help towards the costs of necessary health care, spaying/neutering, chipping, first vaccinations and - possibly - some cat food, litter, a month's insurance and so on. The donation is not a commercial amount. (It won't even cover the likely costs.)
