My cat was killed in hit and run

Not to sound dramatic but I am still so angry and upset even though it's been 2 weeks.

He was hit on the Sunday night (I know now) and was still alive, but badly injured. A man walking past tried to alert neighbours who told him to call RSPCA but don't think anything was done (I imagine he was fatally wounded - there was a huge pool of blood still staining the road now). In the morning he was dead. I found out on the Thursday after putting leaflets through people's doors. Someone had seen him lying in the road Monday morning but by the evening body was gone (?!).

The woman who had told the man to call RSPCA later told me what she had seen/heard.

I hope the man at least put him out of his misery because I cannot bear to think of him dying alone and suffering all night.

I can't believe you could run over a cat and not notice. Not stop the car. I'm heartbroken as I had him for 5 years since he was 10 weeks old.Sad

Sorry for your loss Thanks

I very much feel that it shouldn't be possible for people just to dump cats when they're found in the street. It doesn't take much to consider that someone might be looking for them, it should be compulsory for them to be taken to vets to be scanned for a microchip (I suppose that will never happen though).

So sorry you didn't get to lay your boy to rest Madame, we'd had twigletcat for 5 years too and it's not bloody well long enough, he was meant to grow up with the DCs Sad

Hi there I am.just wandering if anyone can offer any advice on how to cope with the death of a cat on the road. We had him about 6 months and I grew so attached to him. We found him this morning on way to school just at top of our drive and the kids and I are utterly gutted. People keep telling me to pull myself together and focus on the positives but my heart is breaking for my cat. He was my best friend and done everything with me around the house. And the best about it was last night before I put him out I was complaining about him being under my feet. I feel so guilty. 😞 can't seem to get myself together.

furryloveI m sorry you suffered this. I can't advise how to make it better just let you know time does help although doesn't heal.
I lost my beloved Ruby (already named when I got her so a bit confusing...People called her Ruby the cat) on the road just up from my house a year ago. I mourned her and still do. It wasn't fair. She was only 8.
Please give your little cat a lovely funeral and let dc say goodbye.
I have a memorial garden with a sleeping tabby statue and red flowers. I still talk to her.
I found another rescue tabby girl to love now but I still cry for Ruby.
It's so unfair. My heart goes out to you. You are not alone xx

That's I lovely idea. The pain is so raw at the min. I just can't seem to pull myself together. Thank.u so much for the post xx

I know. It's so unfair too. I lost my 15 year old cat in July but am more at peace with that as she was old and ill and passed away in her sleep at home.
But Ruby s and your cat's death was unnecessary and it makes me angry people just don't drive carefully and ruin someone's life
