You can get stuff in tubes that have malt in which supposedly makes the passage of hair through the digestive tract much easier, but my cats have never been keen. If they don't like a bit of it being smeared on their food everyday, you have to be quick and get it on their paw, so they lick it off. It didn't make me popular.
The reduction in fur balls of our cats when we use the iams is dramatic, but that's the one we get because it's the first one we ever saw at Pets At Home about 15 years ago. I'd get small packs of some of the different ones and see how your cat takes to them. Any left over donate to your local shelter or a friend's cat.
Also, on occasions when iams has been out of stock, we've had James Wellbeloved, or whatever his name is. V popular but more expensive, and DH objects!!!
Our vet has also said a 50/50 dry and wet diet helps too, with fur balls.
