Kitten just been spayed, won't keep lampshade on, what else can I do?

We got her spayed yesterday, got her home. She won't wear the collar, keeps pulling it off then going for her stitches. I can't pull the collar any tighter as I'm worried it'll strangle her, there is no space between the tie in it and her neck, but she still manages to get it over her head.

What else can I do? I once saw a cat wearing a little jacket after an operation, can you buy these? I can't find them on Zooplus. Also it might have been a boy cat or a different operation/wound area. Has anyone ever seen these or used one? The vet is closed today so can't ask.

Cat's rarely bother with their spay wounds. I'd just leave the lampshade off. The skin will nit together after around 48 hours and don't worry, even if she managed to pull a stitch there is usually another 2 layers of sutures under the skin in the muscle.

When we took our last female to have her stitches out she had taken them all out so the vets just checked she was ok & sent us on our way.

My poor baby was spayed on Monday and I know I am doing the right thing but she pulled her stitches out this morning so has had to go back to vet to have wound glued and now she has to wear a cone to stop her pulling the wound open. I feel so guilty because the cone seems to be causing her such stress but the vet said it was really important.

Has your vet considered a sausage collar? Some cats get on better with that.

I know this was ages ago .. But how did it go? Stressing over two cone head kittens :-(
