What is the best litter to use for a kitten that is going to be indoors for at least another few months preferably something that takes smells away?

Kitten is around 8-9 weeks and will be in doors for a while yet so using the tray a lot, what is the best litter to use, I'd prefer something that is easy to scoop but more importantly doesn't smell?

I have an indoor adult cat and wood pellets seem to be best. They don't spray everywhere when cat rakes the tray, no smell and easy to shovel out the dirty bits in between full changes.

I hate clumping litter as it stinks and it's so messy.

I have the complete opposite view to theincidental - sorry not much help

catsan for some unknown reason smells horrible i am another one who uses the wood pellets one from asda it smells nicer in the tray being wood based, it breaks down to sawdust so dosent stick to the tray like concrete when wet, and if kitten has pooed shake the tray and the poo comes up to the top so easier to scoop out, and you dont need to change the tray till there is more sawdust than pellets, and if any fly out of the tray easy to pick up and put back in the tray

These are what the place where we are getting him from use I've never seen them before, found good will have a trip to Asda!

Litter perfect from Costco is the best, you never have to change it as any lumps of wee stick together so just remove the clumps and never smells!

We use wood pellets - we kept to the ones that our kitten used in foster home at cats protection. It's called Verdo and I'd definitely recommend. We order online and it comes the next day with free delivery. Litter tray never smells and she still does ALL her business inside even though she's been an outdoor cat for months now!!

Your is the million dollar question, I'm afraid.

I absolutely loved CatSan when I moved here but went off it a few months later because whilst the urine easily drops to the bottom of the tray, it positively honks when it comes to cleaning out to the point of me nearly passing out. It looks clean but isn't really.

I'm currently using Tesco's [homebrand] Clumping litter with my two and change it completely weekly. It is working out cheaper but it still can smell.

However both my cats were toilet trained before we moved here because we had a spare loo. You might want to look into doing that some cats really take to it.

I had one that used the loo no problem. The other had no problem going for wees in the loo but because he can't allow wee and poop to be in the same place (even with three litter trays) I had (and still have) to deal with him pooping next to the loo. Fine as it was a cat-dedicated toilet but not okay now I'm in a house with just one loo.

I've never tried wood pellets but I shall experiment now.

I use cheap litter from tesco and a hooded litter tray with my indoor cats. It means you can change litter often and doesn't cost the earth, also the cover keeps smells contained and helps with the fact that they seem to think they are digging to australia.

Zing uses whatever I get for her .... currently clumping clay, catsan breaks down to muuch with her copious weeing, might try wood pellets

I got my first kitty two weeks ago and we are using the wood pellets that they use at the RSPCA where we got her from.
Takes the smell away and very easy to use.
