Hahaha! My cat just fell off the radiator!

I ought not to laugh, I know, but she's such a lazy, saggy cat (aged 6) and despite having only two jobs to do (look spectacularly cute and cuddly and eat) she is perpetually tired out and seeking a warm radiator to lounge on. She is Dali-esque, in that she pours herself over the radiator an then drips, bit by bit (limb by limb) from the heat source until....thud! she's on the floor.

Happens quite often and I laugh my head off. She looks at me as if to say "when are you going to purchase one of those sheepskin things you hook over the radiator?"

Just wanted to share Smile

I have one of those things but you have to find the right radiator to put it on. If it's too open they feel too insecure to relax. My cat's favourite place atm is a cat bed placed on top of our ironing pile in the utility room, just under the wall mounted boiler Grin High, soft and warm and with a wall at her back. Puuuuurrrrrrrrrrfect!

I try very hard not to laugh if they do something daft. They are so affronted by their own stupidity (and looking to see if anyone has noticed) that I'm not sure I'd be forgiven.

Thing is, my cat is so clumsy. I thought cats were innately graceful, always landing on their feet? My cat's clearly skipped a gene in her makeup.

Hahaha. One of my cats likes to chase her tail, but did it on the stairs the other day and fell down two. She looked very put out that I laughed at her and stromped off in a huff.

StuntBottom · 21/01/2014 17:27

Whenever mine falls off anything, she instantly starts to wash herself and pretend that she jumped down on purpose, just to perform her ablutions. Fall off? Me?? Never!

NorthernLurker · 21/01/2014 18:31

They do look most put out don't they. My cat said hello to dd1 this morning. She was in bed poorly with a cold and cat came in. Dd1 said 'hello Mia' and Mia answered 'Miaow' which was clearly 'hello dd1 what the buggery heck are you still doing in the bed I want to lie on?'

Eliza22 · 21/01/2014 21:28

Ha! Yes! My girl does the same. She snuggles up with me on the bed of a morning but woe betide DH if at the weekend, he gets in the way of her claiming the duvet. She throws dirty looks at him as if to say "I'm sure you should be somewhere else....anywhere else....but not here, on my bed".

my girl cat used to sleep on top of the old fat television and occasionally used to get so comfy she would fall off thwen look round to make sure no one saw her shes right miffed she cant sleep on top of the new flat screen one and has taken up residence on top of the boiler now the heating is on

sashh · 22/01/2014 17:12

I love it when they pretend they deliberately fell off something.

Or when they pretend they can get down from somewhere they can't.

Mine was sitting on my carer's shoulder (I think they were playing pirates) and she decided to climb on top of an open door (cat, not the carer, the carer is male) she was happy there for about 5 mins then couldn't get down because when she tried to do that thing where they pour their front legs down the door would swing backwards.

She had to be rescued by carer, of course she pretended she just wanted to jump on him and run down his back.

MadHattersHat · 22/01/2014 17:30

Mine fell in to the children's toy box, decided it was nice and comfy and fell asleep. Little did he know the kids decided to tidy their room and piled loads of toys on top of him. All you could hear was a "Miow!!" He had to be lifted out. He couldn't get out on his own accord.

Eliza22 · 22/01/2014 20:38

Don't ya just love 'em? I always wanted a dog but know the cat would leave home. I just couldn't do that to her Smile

Depends on the dog, Eliza. I've usually had both dogs and cats and the cats have tended to treat the dogs as just another serf to boss around. As long as you got the right breed, maybe an older rescue dog?

sashh · 23/01/2014 09:37

Eliza

I brought a stray home in my teens, we already had a cat and a golden retriever. The cat used to 'catch' the retriever's tail as it wagged and the retriever would wander around the house with said cat still attached to tail.

SecretNutellaFix · 23/01/2014 09:43

In summer my girlcat likes to sleep on the windowsill. She falls off it every single time

Eliza22 · 23/01/2014 17:27

Yeah, have had my name down for a rescue Golden Retriever, for a while. Would love one.

So, this morning, puss makes herself comfy, in pole position on the duvet. She's not happy, obviously, as DH is still here as it's the weekend. To add insult to injury, he gets up to shower and puss darts off the bed to get to the shower first. DH fails to open the shower door so puss can inspect the cubicle. She glances over her shoulder at him as if to say "it's really so simple. You open the door, I go in first and sit for a moment, looking at the shower head. When I'm happy with my inspection, I come out and then (and only then) do you enter the cubicle and turn on the water".

I know this routine as puss and I go through it every morning. Do wish DH would get with the program
