...until i can get him wormed? I know he has tapeworm (yuk, gross), i have seen the segments. i have 3 young children, the youngest just 6 weeks and i don't want to expose them to worms, tape- or otherwise, any more than i can help. I posted yesterday about getting wormer over here. We used to live in ireland and the worming pill was very small and red and he didn't even mind the taste, so i could worm him regularly. I just tried drontal and the pill is massive; there is no way he will take it; i have the scratches to prove it. I can't hide it in food as it is so big he can eat around it, and he won't eat food that is contaminated by it anyway; he wouldn't eat the bit that had touched the pill, so grinding it up is not an option. My MIL is going to post me a worming tablet from the vet in ireland, but it will be a few days before it arrives; should i make the cat stay outside until he has been wormed? Or is that cruel and unnecessary? He is looking at me sadly through the window......

Oh Yay! All fleas and worms in a oner?

Lonecatwithkitten · 17/01/2014 18:48

'Golden Bullet' ticks too. As I say only word on street details yet to come, but heavy hints are being dropped.

Won't it though? I just hope it lasts in effectiveness for a good few years if it comes in.

How's your lad this morning?

Lonecatwithkitten · 18/01/2014 08:55

Well we have to remember that frontline has been around for a mere 29 years! So it has had a pretty line life as a product.

Spot on wormer every 12 weeks,
Spot on flea every 4 weeks.

I have to mark it on the calendar, so Dcat is definitely covered

cozietoesie he is in and fed and seems to be suffering no ill effects from the chemical overload. Actually, i could swear his tummy looks less bloated...maybe he had a tummy full of worms. He's a bruiser anyway, lying like a great black slug on the chair.
BTW i have never posted in the cat threads before, but i like the vibe on here; you are all helpful and friendly, and most importantly, are cat people! i'm not really sentimental about my cat, but still like that you asked after his health cozie!

Glad he's sorted. Our vets does a subscription thing - £10 per month which pays for all their spot on treatment, they ring you when it's time to go and collect the next lot every 3 months!

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 18/01/2014 09:26

We used stuff that spots on the back of the neck - very easy.

Wineandchoccy · 18/01/2014 09:36

We use Panacur granules to worm our old man because I would need a suit of armour trying to get a tablet down him!

I mix the granules in a pouch of food usually tuna or salmon because they are the smelliest he knows something is up with it but he eats it .

Good luck hope he is ok
