Cat weeing all over the place

My cat is on antibiotics for a bladder infection but now seems to be weeing normally, just not in the litter trays

He has overnight had a wee on a towel that the dcs left on the bathroom floor and in the middle of the floor under the kitchen table

I have 3 litter trays (2 cats) which I keep really clean, he's getting on well with my other cat

How do I get him back to using the trays?

Maybe he associates the tray with the pain of his infection.

That's what I was thinking but how do I get him over it?

Complicated little furry-purry!

Is there any other source of stress? My cat does this if intruder cats come in or if there are workmen in the house.

Could you try a new tray with very different litter to what he is used to?

No other stresses that I can think of

Would you get another tray and put it in the same place as one of his existing ones or as an addition?

If a cat has a bladder infection it can be really painful and makes them want to constantly wee. Although, things may seem better, he may still be feeling uncomfortable so it's worth getting him checking out again by the vet for either further treatment or so they can be sure it isn't something like cystitis or a blockage. If it continues to be ongoing they can test him to be sure it's a water infection as different things have different treatments.

Wash anything he wees on with biological washing powder (helps remove the smell of wee and reduces the chance of a cat wanting to return to that spot). If he wees on something that can't be washed soak up the wee with paper towels, clean area with water and then apply an odour remover (I got a good one from my vet) or surgical spirit which you can buy from the chemist.

I know it's hard to cope with, but try not to show you are stressed by this or upset with him, as cats can actually react to stress by weeing in unacceptable places.

He's still on an antibiotic, painkiller & something to dissolve the crystals and he doesn't seem to be having any problems going, frequency is normal now and he's going pretty soon as much as he gets into position IYKWIM

I'd have it as an addition so that he doesn't associate it with painful weeing. Just a thought - I hope it works.
